I know the game has changed a lot since with all the passing, but IMO an offense that Washington with John Riggins and the Hogs could still work.

It's a huge offensive line that controls the line of scrimmage and allows a strong running back eat up 4, 5, 6 yards every time. It's ball control, clock eating offense that is based on physical domination of the line of scrimmage.

Why would this type of offense not work in today's NFL. It's boring ground and pound/grind it out but it just seems so basic and fundamentally sound.
Look at the Eagles.

Dominant offensive and defensive lines.

And a field goal kicker who kicks straight on instead of soccer style from the side.

He did that a lot last year as well. I know he's got elite talent but he hasn't been living up to it, in my opinion.
Herbert played through cracked ribs most of last year. Presently he has a broken finger on his non throwing hand.

He has been missing his targets however. Some completely wide open. We seldom saw that his first few years in the league. So something is amiss.

Austin Ekeler was on the injury list with a high ankle sprain and missed a few games and it looks like he reinjured himself on Sunday. Star wideout Mike Williams is out for the season with a knee injury. All pro centre Corey Linsley is out with heart issues.

They have some fine receivers but don't have a legitimate deep threat. Combine that with a first year OC and you are seeing an offense that is woefully under achieving. They have the Bears next and are opening as a -8.5 at home.

Tom Dempsey was pretty good.

It sounds like you don't think a ground and pound offense would work anymore. If so, why not.

Not at all, it's a great offense if you have the appropriate talent. I was facetiously referring to Riggins teammate place kicker Mark Moseley. If you're going to go back in time for a ground game offense, might as well include Moseley. He was the last of the old time kickers that kicked the ball straight on.

Aah. OK. Thanks for the explanation.

Yes. It's a specialized offense and the proper personnel is essential.

SFR has peaked, they could of easily won their last two games, right down to the last drive. . . Can you believe Cousins will probably win the QB of the week award ( ahead of Mahomes ).

Cousins has had a very good year. I hate the Vikings but have always been a Kirk fan.

I had the Bucs last night just to make the game more interesting. I just bet a tiny bit but a win is a win.

I'll study the rest of the games tomorrow.

It looks like KC is no longer an elite team. They lost convincingly to the Broncos who just a few weeks ago gave up 70 points.

The AFC looks like a crap shoot right now. Bills have been inconsistent. I think that leaves Baltimore and Miami and right now I'd probably give the edge to the Ravens because of their defense.

I can't remember the last time I watched a KC game and Mahomes had zero passing TD's. Two best looking teams today to me were: Boys and Cinci . . .

Today may be the key word there.

I thought that Cleveland battled hard and deserved a better fate.
Cleveland great D, but not enough scoring power to make it past the 1st round . . . I'm always rooting for the Bills but I find Allen inconsistent and they lose a key player every other week . .

Getting Watson back will definitely make a difference. How much difference is the question.
A beneficial difference, for the opposing team though.

hallelujah ! finally got rid of that Josh McDaniels clown. hard to find another clown who kept failing upwards and getting jobs, dude getting fired twice within 1.5 years and not to mention screwing Colts and the assistant coaches big team (what a dick move). Lane Kiffin had a similar trajectory but Lane is actually a good coach.

my money is on Jim Harbaugh finally getting lured (and forced) back to NFL to coach the Raiders. dude would have been coaching both SF and Oakland no less. (yes, Oakland for all you M Fs).
McDaniels is a bad coach. Will it improve the Raiders? Likely not much. They have serious issues on their o line and in their secondary that need to be addressed.

Week 9 best bets.

I made a little money last night on the under and Steelers ATS. Let's hope it continues on Sunday. 3 games I like a lot

Saints minus 7.5 vs. Bears. Saints have messed me up a couple times this season but I cannot see how they don't decimate, arguably the worst team in the NFL, at home. 🔒🔒🔒🔒🔒
Colts minus 2.5 at Panthers. The Panthers got their one win last week and while the Colts have been a disappointment at 3-5 so far, they are clearly the better team here. Taylor will run all over the Panthers. 🔒🔒🔒🔒
Giants/Raiders under 37.5. New coach & starting QB for Raiders and the Giants have a surprisingly stingy defense. Jones may be back under center but it doesn't matter. I see the Giants running the ball a ton which will milk the clock. 🔒 🔒 🔒 🔒
