New terb structure horrible

Who knew anything had changed? I login as usual and hit New Posts, everything as easy and functional as always. Never knew there was a Problem With TERB.

Eventually this thread finally got current enough to rise to the top of new posts, and I went looking. Oh yeah, more volume has led to more subdivisions, and the front page looks more cluttered with the grey fine print under the headings. But it only means a tad more scrolling; no functionality's been lost. Us HogTowners long ago had to get used to such stuff and managed. You guys will too.

TERB's never really had robust and responsive servers that deliver page after page without hesitation. It's doing just what I'm used to, with my outdated versions of Firefox and Safari.

im just having problems getting beyond page 1 of anything in the review and advertiser sections... no matter if I select page 2 or page 10, the URL changes and says page # at the end but all I see is page 1... I was hoping to read beyond the ads and reviews on page 1 but I guess i'll have to be more patient until things get fixed.
We answered that many times, switch to Firefox, chrome or any other browser but Internet Explorer!

The new terb format

Am posting a new thread here for two reasons.

1) If I post my comments and questions in the current active lobby thread, I'm pretty sure my post will immediately get lost in the back and forth bitching.

2) It's possible the very act of posting answers my first question.

So here's my first question, and I'll check for the answer, then post another comment separately:

When I scroll down the main Forum list to check sub-forums, I see a "most recent post" link on the right in all sub-forums but Ontario North and Ontario South.

Why is that?

Just a glitch in formatting? Or still awaiting the first new post to activate the process?

So ... posted the thread, clicked on Forum in the main header and checked for an indicator of anything new in the Ontario South Forum.

Nada.

This might be a glitch that Admin can rectify.

By the way, love the new feature that allows us to include a photo in the local review sub-forum. Long overdue, will insert random photo here from my daily twitter feed just to check it out.

Works perfectly as you can see.

Now for the critical comment on the reorganized sub-forum structure

With all due respect to the hard work that has gone into fine tuning this new version of terb, there is a bit of a glitch in determining geographic groupings.

Nice to see Brantford and Woodstock included, since they were overlooked previously, and there is a natural connection between those two towns ... right on the 403 between Hamilton and London.

However, and this is the big issue:

Please put Cambridge, Guelph and KW back together in one sub-forum.

Bear in mind that these cities all have natural as well as political connections. For most of us who live here, yes there are four different cities politically, but they are just four different "neighborhoods" in one town, with a few farm fields surrounding Guelph. And Cambridge Kitchener Waterloo are among 7 municipalities making up Waterloo region. Lots of spots where you can find two properties facing each other across the street, one with a Kitchener address, one with a Cambridge address, or one Kitchener, one Waterloo.

Waterloo-Wellington is a long standing designation with many references to be found on the web and elsewhere, reinforcing the natural relationship between Guelph and Waterloo region ... dental society, canoe club, science fair, etc etc.

So it makes no sense for terb to separate Cambridge from KW. Likewise, no sense to separate Guelph from KW Cambridge.

Put them back together and terb will be providing better service to both clients and service providers in my "town."

I agree as per my lobby bitch/whine/.02

Why separate provider questions from reviews, also? Does member 1 review an SP and member 2 go to another sub-forum to ask further questions about the same SP? Or do you only go to the sub-forum to get info on SP's not recently reviewed?

Two forums like in the past was convenient for members and an easy way to see advertising SP's.

Contrary to the tone of my recent posts, I appreciate the effort made and will continue to visit daily.

Sure I will check, maybe there were no new posts from Ontario North and Ontario South when you did the search but I'll double check.

Eventho I joined 2011 and have spent zero time here (up-until now). The other site I frequented has turned totally gay and I can't, I wont support homo 1% and Kernal sanders fag-fester anymore!

Please take my vote as +1, this does need to be one community.

Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge/Guelph really is one community. We are all literally 15 minutes apart by car and I search them all when in need.

Yours truly,

BFD

Not sure if there is a setting that I need to change or not. When I log in I always get the incorrect redirect box. I have to click on the forums tab to finish the redirect. Is there a setting that I need to change? Is anyone else having this issue?

Agreed. Thought the same thing about KW/C/G. If it stays like this its unusable. Thanks to Art for taking the time to express it articulately

I don't like the new format either. The competitor - ********** has retained the old format ... at it remains much easier to use!
