oh, that's tough. Didn't realize he was that old. He was easily my favorite drummer, listening to him was mesmerizing. My sister died from complications with brain cancer surgery, not a great way to go.
"The influential musician and lyricist died Tuesday in Santa Monica, Calif., after having been diagnosed with brain cancer, according to a statement issued Friday by family spokesperson Elliot Mintz.
His death was confirmed by Meg Symsyk, a media spokesperson for the progressive rock trio comprising Peart, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson."

Geddy Lee talked about the amount of pain he was in during Rush's last tour. Terrible news, another piece of my teen years gone. Loved him.

How good of a drummer was Neil Peart? Listen to the delayed syncopations after the slow bridge. the only other drummers that could do that is John Bonham and Carmine Appice.

So sad , especially coming right after the death of Ginger Baker, another amazing and influential drummer. What he did on The Spirit of Radio was just mesmerizing. I think the most underrated Rush releases were GRACE UNDER PRESSURE and FEEDBACK.
I saw Rush on April 7 1983 (Quebec city) I was a teenager back then. Great ban and great artist he was.
