I think it's too bad the top four teams are selected by committee. They should move to an eight team playoff format and let the standings decide.

Why? Give a chance to a 3rd place team to beat a powerhouse and fuck the whole thing up...the committee did well, they got the four most deserving teams.

I was watching the Peach Bowl and wondering why the two best players weren’t playing...now that I know I’m not sure what to think of these guys, I’m leaning towards selfish.

It's a business decision.
They are both inline to make millions in the NFL as high draft picks.
Why jeopardize that with a major injury. You blow out a knee ,shoulder or a hip much like Tua and you could go from 1st or 2 nd round pick down to 5 or 6th round. That's huge money.
Put it this way. If the government tells you to isolate from at home due to Covid for 1 month and in return they will give you a guaranteed $10 million over the next 4 years, would you do it? Fucking right you would.

If it wasn't for their team mates they wouldn't be in line to be drafted and then they just bail on the team...chances of them having a career ending injury in the Peach Bowl is slim to Nil...

But there is always a chance.
I don't think you have ever played or been involved with high level sports to really understand.

Junior and University Hockey I was involved in...I'm not just a guy with an uneducated opinion.

I still think it's selfish of them...I don't imagine the players, and there are a few, made too many friends in the locker room with their decision.

You would be surprised at how few of them would be pissed. Even coaches don't have a problem with it.
Don't forget, if the starter sits, the back up gets a start which they have been wanting since day 1.

It looks like it will be another SEC team winning the national championship, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Georgia finally beat Alabama.

Now with the exception of the college playoffs the Bowl games mean very little, the players did play the season right thru to their league championship.

Would have sucked if your were a supporter and made plans to watch your team play in a Bowl game and players bail...like if you went to Pasadena to watch Ohio State play in the Rose Bowl and four Buckeye players opt out...kinda cheapens the game's integrity.

I read it, the same issues we talked about are discussed.

I'm just not buying into the career injury risk thing, it's such a long shot...of January 1 big three Bowl games, Fiesta, Rose and Sugar, there will be roughly 180 players that play and I bet none of them will receive a career ending injury...if it's that big a concern, they should pull themselves in a regular season rout instead of padding their stats.

Now expanding the Playoffs is an interesting idea, it would keep the players on these teams to remain active.

It's changed...before, no one would turn down the chance to play in the Rose Bowl, but now it's the "Me Generation."

Ohio State 48 Utah 45...told you it’d be a shit game.
Kentucky 20 Iowa 17 ......

..... a much, much better game than the 'why even bother with defense" pinball game listed above.

You never mentioned anything about the argument of coaches bailing on teams to take jobs elsewhere. Nobody seems to make a big deal about that, so why make a big deal about players. ND, Oregon and Oklahoma head coaches, to name a few, all bailed shortly after the regular season to take jobs elsewhere.
The starting QB for Ole Miss was injured in last nights game. Severity was unknown at the time. Probably something he will recover from in time for the draft, but just shows there is always a chance. He is projected to go in the 1st or 2nd round. But who knows now?
All these college players have 1 thing on their minds, realistic or not, is to get a shot to make the NFL.

In the end I guess we will agree to disagree on this matter.
Enjoy the Championship game.

Coaches can be fired at any time and to tell you the truth, I don't care who the coach is...Kenneth Walker is really really exciting player and i would like to have seen him one more time.

Matt Corral, the Ole Miss QB, didn't look good at all when he left and yes there is a risk.

Championship game is a toss-up...

Holy schizophrenia, Batman! I suggested in post #62 of this very thread the NCAA football playoffs should be expanded to eight teams.

I think it's too bad the top four teams are selected by committee. They should move to an eight team playoff format and let the standings decide.
Your response was to crap on that notion.

Why? Give a chance to a 3rd place team to beat a powerhouse and fuck the whole thing up...
Now suddenly you've had a massive epiphany and expanding the playoffs is now 'an interesting idea' because you're butt hurt some college kid isn't willing to risk an 8 figure financial future to entertain you in a meaningless bowl game!?

Kenneth Walker is really really exciting player and i would like to have seen him one more time.
This is why you have credibility issues. <SMH>
