I named two just as examples. That era when NBA players misused their wages is long gone.
No its not. Players are still going broke after retirement. In the Golden years of 2017 which was so long ago according to you, 60% of NBA players ended up broke 5 years after retirement.

"It seems that the NBA gets a much worse rap around the country for its players being thugs and gangsters, despite the fact that most of the players with rap sheets haven't done much worse than your average Joe who has been behind bars a few times."

Read a lot of these posts. I find myself agreeing with points on both sides actually.

I don't think that the NBA players boycotting games will make one iota of a difference. (To be honest.)

The case of Mr. Blake and the officer who shot him will go through the system and will end up in court. The USA, despite all of its flaws, is a nation of laws and this one will play out in court. Off hand, in reading about Blake, he's no choir boy by a long shot and he did resist arrest and frankly, I don't have much sympathy for him. I'm a bit surprised that people are viewing him as some sort of metaphor about race relations in the USA. I really don't think he got shot because he was black. He got shot because he was an ignorant asshole with a record as long as his arm who resisted arrest and the outcome would have been the same if he was white, except white people would not have given a shit. Frankly, I think the black community is backing the wrong horse on this one.

But this much I do know. The NBA is a business. It all comes down to money. If the NBA can shrug off its players boycotting games (i.e. the boycotts have 0 effect on the bottom line) then they can continue to boycott to their heart's content. But if the boycotts starts to eat into revenue, well, then watch and see. That will prove interesting. I wonder how many players would be willing to take a 20 percent across the board pay cut on principle because revenues were down 20 percent? Not too many I would wager. I have the feeling that there's probably a LOT of peer pressure on all the guys on the teams to jump on the bandwagon. I saw Nick Nurse locking arms with his guys and on his knees and I thought to myself, "well, he's either drank the koolaid on this one, or he figures that in order for his players to respect him, he's going to have to go along on this one."

Hey snowflake, nobody cares about their message. The ratings are way down because people are tired of it and they know it. They said numerous times that their message wasn't getting through and were getting frustrated. Nice spin though. They were ready to leave and were "convinced" to stay. It's about their wallets and nothing more. The owners also told them they will help with the cause. I'm sure a few will but the majority won't because they are old white men who don't give a shit about their cause. They know if they don't play they won't get paid their contracts next year because the owners will be crying that they lost money. You snowflakes are so naive. You do realize none of these guys said anything about China's abuses while they were there because it would have cost them money? If they are for social justice and against abuses why didn't they say anything? It's like Michael Jordan said when people asked him why he didn't speak up when it came to racial and social issues. Because Republicans buy sneakers too. The majority of the people who watch and go to NBA games are white. You are also wrong about me hating their message. I don't have a problem with it if they were consistent, but they are not. I'm against racism and social injustice but lets be real here none of these guys who got shot are good people. Breonna Taylor Being the exception, If you follow police instructions and don't resist you will be OK. This case still has a lot of missing pieces, so I can't say whether the cop should be charged or not.

Hey snowflake, nobody cares about their message. ...
Troglodytes don't speak for the rest of the people. The vast majority of NBA fans either support or aren't bothered by the messaging. Those that are offended by it don't seem to have much of an impact on the sport. These ratings claims are the same as we heard after Kapernik, weak excuses for people to ignore the world has changed and they haven't. This seems to be another case where the right no longer care about businesses having the right to make their own decisions if it infringes on their right to desire a idealized 1950's existence.

And no, it's not all about their wallets. If it was, they wouldn't have said anything.

Stephen A. details meeting that left young NBA players ‘turned off’ by LeBron James | First Take
...
Did you watch the clip or are you just trying to use it for an agenda the clip doesn't support?

According to Stephen A, the players were offended at LeBron saying they are beneath him, not anything about anti-racism or the player's choices.

The NBA ratings drop arent due to anything due to the protests as the MAGA crowd wants you to think, it is much more complicated than that. There has been an overall TV ratings drop for years, people are cutting the cord, especially during the pandemic where many have lost their jobs and have less income to spend on things like expensive cable packages, also some of those games were on a weekday afternoon when many people were at work, are we really surprised? The evening games saw a rise in ratings.

Why is this even a topic with the MAGA crowd? none of you like the NBA anyway, the athletes dont look like you so you have never watched, stay in your lane please, NASCAR, WWE and your boy Dana White showering praises on the white Christian nationalist currently occupying the White House.

“The players, led by Washington Generals All-Star Power Forward Art Tubolls, held a secret vote prior to the beginning of the season to suspend the league for any credible reason until President Donald Trump resigns from office or is voted out. Since much of the league is made up of Hollywood actor and musician wannabes, these millionaire crybabies overwhelming voted to approve the measure.”

ummmm... there is no such NBA team as the Washington generals nor is there a player called Art Tubolls.

So what you're saying, maurice, there's as much truth in this post of |2 /-\ | /|/, as there is in any of his other 4,701 posts?

Apparently cops are held to a higher standard than criminals.

There was a reason why the Brits decided on Partition. Otherwise, India would be another Pakistan now with the Taliban running amuck and people like Asia Bibi sentenced to death for being Christian.
Are you implying all the violence during the Indian Independence movement was by Muslims?
It's been 2 days since you asked this legitimate question and no reply.

Looks like the real NBA boycott and this thread has reached a natural conclusion, at least for now. Great voter turnout at 63. No, I don't vote in my own polls.

Now Messrs. Shack and his friend Costanza can discuss/debate the Partition of the Indian Sub-continent to their heart's content. They seem to have an interest in the subject as evidenced by their two posts above.

What the hell are you talking about? It was YOU who brought this up.

And seeing as I made no comment whatsoever on this topic, you are delusional. Please quote my comment on the topic to prove you are not a liar.

It is now three days and you continue to duck. Just like always.

Find the quote where I discuss the Indian sub-continent or revolution there and I will impose a TERB self-ban for a month. If you can't then you ban yourself for only 1 week. I only pointed out how you ducked Valcazar's question, which in no way displays an interest in the topic. One month vs. one week.

Waiting for your quack, quack, quack.

Hey Shack, don't worry about Valcazar. He's doing just fine and I think he is very capable of letting you know if he wants you as his spokesperson.

You denied nothing of what I posted. You admit that you lied. Please don't post for a week.
