Yes except most of them don't actually care where they came from and put those times behind them. If they really wanted to make a statement they should have boycotted the rest of the season but they won't because it hurts their wallets. They were snowed by the owners who assured them they will do all they can to change the system. What they don't realize is that the owners are rich people who don't want anything to change.
The reason why they chose not to boycott the season is to continue pushing the message that your rednecks hate.

Heard some of the athletes say they want a "full" conversation. If they really want a "full" conversation then we should also talk about black crime and black violence (mostly inflicted on other blacks). LeBron "I am terrified" James is much more likely to be killed by a young black male than by a police officer at the scene of a crime.
Another person who doesn't want to excuse potentially racist police actions because there are other criminals out there.

Hey snowflake, nobody cares about their message. The ratings are way down because people are tired of it and they know it. They said numerous times that their message wasn't getting through and were getting frustrated. Nice spin though. They were ready to leave and were "convinced" to stay. It's about their wallets and nothing more. The owners also told them they will help with the cause. I'm sure a few will but the majority won't because they are old white men who don't give a shit about their cause. They know if they don't play they won't get paid their contracts next year because the owners will be crying that they lost money. You snowflakes are so naive. You do realize none of these guys said anything about China's abuses while they were there because it would have cost them money? If they are for social justice and against abuses why didn't they say anything? It's like Michael Jordan said when people asked him why he didn't speak up when it came to racial and social issues. Because Republicans buy sneakers too. The majority of the people who watch and go to NBA games are white. You are also wrong about me hating their message. I don't have a problem with it if they were consistent, but they are not. I'm against racism and social injustice but lets be real here none of these guys who got shot are good people. Breonna Taylor Being the exception, If you follow police instructions and don't resist you will be OK. This case still has a lot of missing pieces, so I can't say whether the cop should be charged or not.

Killings because of racism, which are not numerous, should be talked about. But daily killings of innocent children for whatever the reason should not be talked about? That is your contention? Please go and have your brain examined and report back. Urgently!
not saying they shouldn't be talked about. just saying maybe you should start another thread to talk about it.
this thread talks about murder because of police brutality, and discrimination which is a separate issue all together. the rationale and reasoning behind the killing is the reason why the reaction and anger is so strong in these communities.

If you bring up facts and statistics, people will call you racists, sexists, homophobic, transphobic. I am sick of political correctness. If you keep covering up the truth, nothing will ever changed or get fixed. Stupidity and violence will continue. Smart people learn from history so that it doesn't repeat itself.
Nobody has a problem with actual facts. In many cases it is how facts are used/interpreted. In other cases some people claim that alternate facts are real facts.

I don't think anyone is saying Blake is a role model. The protests aren't about a wonderful person being shot; they're about the differences in the way that often police deal with black and white people differently. For example, Blake ignored the police and went back to his car and got shot for it. Meanwhile this militia kid crosses state lines with a weapon he allegedly shouldn't have had and while out after curfew gets thanked by the cops then proceeds to shoot three people, walk by the cops as people are telling cops he's the shooter, and goes home for the night.

Probably could have left it at this.
How many lies can you fit in one paragraph?
Blake either had a knife or was going to the car to get one. The audio clearly indicates the cops yelling to drop the knife.
The kid's his lawyers have released a statement that Rittenhouse did not cross state lines with a gun. The gun was already there.
He tried to turn himself in but the cops not knowing what had happened drove past him. There was mass confusion. The first guy he shot was after he was shot at while being chased by numerous people. Rosenbaum was lunging for the kid's gun when he was shot. Rittenhouse then when asked by a reporter to call 911 did so.

Stephen A. details meeting that left young NBA players ‘turned off’ by LeBron James | First Take

The players are divided...It's a hard call for them and they're under an extreme amount pressure. I say play basketball and leave the politics to the politicians rather than let them and the media use you as pawns. Hopefully all of the vetted facts will come out soon and we can stop speculating based on bias.

If these players are so concerned about the police treatment of blacks, why don't they give up their sport and the millions that go with it and run for political office?
You want change, then really do something about it. The endless boycotts and verbal dribble won't achieve nothing, absolutely nothing.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi overthrew a nation without firing a shot. You think about that.
Are you under the impression there wasn't a whole bunch of revolutionary violence going on in the Indian Independence movement?

Some will when they get older. There is a long history of ex sports stars getting involved in politics.

The NBA players really did this smart.
Big move, lots of press, take advantage of the leverage to get some clear concessions, then end the strike to preserve leverage for later.

The point of a strike is to win gains. They won some gains, not remotely everything they wanted. (And from the beginning I would have liked some more labor-focused demands.)
They return to work now and preserve the chance to strike later. Bank the gains and move on.
All in all reasonably popular and with some concrete benefits.
Just generally well played.

There was a reason why the Brits decided on Partition. Otherwise, India would be another Pakistan now with the Taliban running amuck and people like Asia Bibi sentenced to death for being Christian.

Are you implying all the violence during the Indian Independence movement was by Muslims?

As weeks drone on NBA (& NHL) are becoming more pointless
The bubble games are boring and sterile
Real sports fans are not watching (see ratings bottom out)

And to make matters worse they are shooting themselves in the foot since rich white money is basically who pays their salaries
Next year when salary caps go down and endorsements worth millions less they will reap what they are sowing

An average of 7,900 blacks are murdered by other blacks every year.
Apparently, blacks killed by other blacks are "less dead" so unworthy of protests/demonstrations and their families are not invited to speak at Martin Luther King's memorial.

Liberals hold white men to a super high standard, but they do not hold criminals accountable for anything. They don't understand what they are doing is rewarding people for bad behavior and making bad decisions in life.
