Got to be honest, I'm a little surprised and shocked about the lack of participation in this thread. When this happens in the U.S we have threads that are 15 pages long. Here we have the worst one in Canadian history, during a pandemic where is at home just filling time on the net, and very little reaction to this.
Usual suspects cant post their nonsense claiming this only happens in gun crazy america, how canadians are so much better and how amazing and effective gun control is

I grew up in Nova scotia and dated a young lady from that area in my early 20's for 3 years. A few thoughts from chatting with some locals, and a few retired boys in blue.

1.He was dead before he was dead. You don't shoot a police officer while dressed as a police officer and live.
2.Rural RCMP in Nova Scotia are very few and far between and response times are stretched. This could have been much worse.
3.Lawsuits are coming over that alert.
4.This is the nightmare scenario. This isn't big city violence...…...this is country rural, which is considered a safe zone from this kind of violence. Innocence lost
5.Fuck the Globe and Mail for letting me know this shit stains hobbies...……….
6.If the scenarios I'm hearing are true I'm horrified for these poor souls last moments on earth
New Brunswock had two shootings in the past decade. Similar to this. Some wacko with a gun. One of them was even a cop fanboy mile this guy was.

I am also shocked at the lack of participation in the Thread. I would like to know why you guys think no alert was posted.

Nova Scotia RCMP now investigating if gunman had help as victim death toll rises ....

There is now question as to whether he had help.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-death-toll-in-nova-scotia-mass-shooting-rises-to-23/

RCMP in Nova Scotia say they are now investigating whether others may have assisted the gunman in Canada’s deadliest mass shooting as the death toll rose Tuesday to 22 victims.

It is the first suggestion other suspects may have had some role in the devastating rampage across rural Nova Scotia last weekend, which police have previously said was committed by Gabriel Wortman alone.

RCMP included the information in a media release they issued Tuesday afternoon and said they would not answer further questions about it.

How do you set fire to 5 buildings in a short period of time?

I would imagine that would involve large amounts of some kind of fuel.

I agree totally on your points.
I too have friends out there & exchanged a few emails or chatted with folks out there.
policing in rural areas anywhere in Canada is the same. Low staffing for large areas...
the story started at 1030 pm Atlantic time on a Sat night....
more facts will come out of this over time as they can be released. NS police watchdog version of SIU is involved too, so RCMP cannot release much. One of the key elements not yet released or from what I have not seen or heard, when did RCMP know the shooter was dressed like them & have a fully marked car. There are lots of twists & turns yet to come out
Lets not forget this was a high risk event that happened but fortunately low frequency in Canada event , yes mistakes were likely made. When real humans are involved, mistakes or second guessing will happen. Training covers a lot of areas, chances are they never trained for a mass shooting involving someone dressed like a cop, driving a marked car, burning 5 homes traveling over such a wide area for a crime scene.
Lets focus on supporting the people who cannot grieve properly during this COVID19. There is a virtual memorial service Friday night on Facebook. Lets focus on supporting the people having to deal 1st hand with the loss of a loved one, neighbor, co-worker, friend, etc.
Leave the arm-chair quarterback stuff & fingerer pointing for later.
my thoughts & prayers to those out in NS & those that know them around the world.

Apparently, Americans living in that area received alerts on their phones. At this point, they aren't sure what time of the day though.

Is there a reason yet for this massacre? Schizofrenia? Or just a evil Pos.

Might be a little tin foil hat thinking but I think a big reason why no alert was posted is because big brother was worried that if posted everybody in Nova Scotia who owns a gun would of took it out of storage and loaded it to prevent themselves of being the next victim and the suspect was dressed as a cop so might have put some of the police in possible danger.
Good point!

We're all desensitized to mass shootings now. Many of us are even "bored" of covid.

My guess would be:

Mid-life crisis + divorce/relationship trouble + loss of income because of Covid-19 + cabin fever + drug/alcohol issues + male pattern baldness + mental disease + easy access to firearms = Instant Rambo

There's no "easy access to firearms" in Canada.

He used illegal firearms and had no license.

When is the last time you have seen any type of firearm being carried, or lying around where it's not supposed to be? I'm going to say never.

Unlike illegal drugs, you'll have the police knocking at your door very soon after you start asking about buying any firearm without a licence.

If this is true, lots of TERBites are going to go on a rampage very soon. Scary thought.

If he wasn’t programmed with hidden malware this wouldn’t be an issue. This is what Ego does if overloaded with these bullshit programming our societies presently inject people deep within.

Well.....he somehow got them, didnt he?!

I'm pretty sure people who use hard drugs can ask that same dealer to hook them up with a few guns if they ask them to. Shouldnt be that hard

Yes it is hard.

It is not impossible. He obtained illegal firearms, but not easily like you say.
