I have to say that I'm not prepared to say I'm gay in order to get the vaccine. I don't want that on my government "permanent record". Who can predict where that will lead some time down the line...

If it becomes an epidemic in Toronto, and if the current vaccine is upgraded to ward off the new variant, and if it becomes available to straight guys who see sex providers, I will definitely change my mind.

From what I read on the Service Ontario site straight guys are not eligible to receive the vaccine, even if they say they are seeing sex workers. Having male to male sex, or actually being a sex worker yourself, would seem to be part of the primary prerequisites to qualify for the vaccination.

Why not say “I’ve looked at the criteria for vaccine eligibility, and I believe I meet them”. I don’t think they will as for details / proof that you have sex with men.

Vaccine does not require ID or health card. You will not be stamped with “GAY” on your “government permanent record”, whatever that is.

Dr. Bogosh also said sex workers are high risk which extends to their clients.

Whenever I got my flu shots and Covid vaxes they always asked for my health card, even at Shoppers, never mind the Covid vaccination clinics.

I doubt Service Ontario will give any vaccination without your OHIP card being presented.

I'll stay on the fence until Mpox really becomes a "thing" in Ontario, and until they upgrade the current vaccine to ward off the new variant.

Came here to say this. It's a paper you bring home. Since sex workers are often in precary situation they don't ask for anything.

Edit: I am personally not really worried. I think a surge in cases are normal after gay pride. We are still talking about 33 cases on 5M people. Let's not go crazy just yet. They did the same thing last time and nothing happened.

I wonder if our illustrious leader in Ottawa has considered banning immediately all arrivals from Africa,... that`s probably racist. I understand it`s already here but why chance throwing more buckets of gas on the fire. Maybe he`d like to add to the colossal ruin of our country before he gets the hook next year following the impressive recovery from covid and all.....suuure.

What matters here is whether or not you have been vaccinated for smallpox, which confers a level of immunity to any pox related virus. The older you are, the more likely you were vaxxed as a kid, or in my case in the military as well. The younger are more vulnerable this time around, which is a change...

Anyone younger than 45 probably did not receive the smallpox vaccine, as it stopped being a routine vaccination around that time. I don't have the "mark of protection" and neither does my Brother, and we were both born in the 80's.
