Life-long Californian here. Krystal is dead wrong. California has plenty of funding for everything but mismanages it through grift and scams and incompetence. Climate change is not the culprit in California and criminal negligence and incompetence is. We have experienced prolonged drought but the last 2 years have given California record rainfall and snow pack. The rain records in California show no pattern to climate change being responsible for lack of water (however we have had warmer summers and winters as a result). Our state is loaded to the brim with incompetent leaders who have prioritized luxury beliefs while sidelining the foundations and basics of what is required.We are HEAVILY taxed in California but we expect that for our tax dollars we receive competent and functioning government. For the last 20 yrs all we have received is politicians, mostly Democrats, looting our tax dollars and getting nothing in return. Newsom has been a disaster and should be held criminally negligent. His response to the Paradise fires, the Santa Rosa fires, Sierra National Forest fires, and now the Palisades and LA fires has been a complete shit show. He got money from Trump and squandered it. In 2016 we passed a tax to build infrastructure and preparedness for water management to combat these predictable fires yet nothing has been started. 30% of our agricultural water evaporates on the way to its destination. Collecting rainwater in illegal. The reservoirs are empty due to incompetence. We have Mexico and Canada stepping in because California can't do it on their own even though they have collected more tax dollars for this issue than any other state in the country. Disgraceful. Our state has more than enough money and competent first responders ready to go, but prioritizes the wrong people for the jobs and for the wrong reasons. Add this to the list of failed Newsom and Democrat endeavors; • $28 billion toward solving homeless crisis yielded a 40% increase in homelessness in the last 4 yrs. • A high-speed rail that is obviously a scam and has gone from a budget of $33 billion to $128 billion in ten years and not a single track laid. • 2016 passage of water infrastructure tax and no new reservoirs built, no dams, no nothing. • Crime is soaring in our cities, murders and rapes increasing. vagrants and hoodlums terrorizing neighborhoods in L.A., San Francisco and Oakland. • Home insurance has become scarce do to mismanagement which makes home purchasing even more difficult on top of sky-high inflation of prices. • We have been swarmed with illegal immigrants who receive government money and services that DO NOT extend to California legal residences. • Dining at French Laundry during covid lockdowns. Using Covid to play politics with our children getting back to schools. • First responders have been vilified by this government. It's a complete failure from top-to-bottom. Fires are a normal part of living in California and of the natural cycle of the ecology.These things are predictable and having the basics covered is the minimum requirement from local and state governments. California stopped managing the forests in the 80s and as a result the forests are overcrowded with dead trees and fuel for fires. The state has failed miserably in managing fires breaks across the state, just as they failed in L.A. We need complete new leadership and Newsom and Bass need to step down and go away (preferably move form the state.) Again California has more tax dollars collected than any other state by a long stretch, and more than enough capable people who can do the jobs. However, our current leaders cannot.''
