This is interesting. Apparently, there was a poll of NHL players on who is the most overrated player and Dion Phaneuf won.
I tossed the article but I seem to remember that Scott Gomez was in the top 10.Phaneuf is in the top 10 for sure.
Please. Give your head a shake.Based on his play in the last two Olympics....I would think Marty B is pretty over-rated.
....or from a group who doesn't like a particular player very much...maybe they've had their heads rammed hard into the boards by that player more times than they'd like to admit.. Phaneuf can't even be the most over rated D man in the league. That prize has to go to Jay Boumeester. What does that guy really do that is any more than mediocre at best?. ..a close 2nd has to be another Calgary defenseman, Robyn Regher. Overall though, it is tough to argue Bandit's choice of Carey Price. Montreal would be smart to move him while the league still has that over rated opinion of himFrom what I remember, they polled 270 NHL players. 21% picked Phaneuf. Second place was only 7%. It was a landslide, from what I would consider, a knowledgeable group.
When Scott Gomez first became a free agent, eventually signing with the Rangers, he said that he never wanted to play for a Canadian team.I tossed the article but I seem to remember that Scott Gomez was in the top 10.
I dissagree , to be overrated means their skill level is held in higher esteem than their numbers can Justify. Thornton has for years been called a good regular season player who chokes in the playoffs, and that's exactly what he done for yearsJoe Thorton is very good during the regular season but a bust in the playoffs. He deserves at least honourable mention as most overrated.
Carey Price is a back up goalie. The kid has a lot of potential, but he lacks consistency. He is very young. I thought everyone knew that. How is that overrated?Carey Price
That's funny because only this year have they gone to more of Halak.Carey Price is a back up goalie. The kid has a lot of potential, but he lacks consistency. He is very young. I thought everyone knew that. How is that overrated?
Yes, Price was pretty much handed the #1 spot once they traded Huet. But I don't think they traded Huet because they thought Price was going to be brilliant right away.. Huet was going to be a UFA at the end of the season. He was going to ask for 3-4 years at top $, which he got from Chicago. Montreal didn't want to go with Huet long term, so they traded him. And now Chicago has that problem instead of Montreal. But its true that Price didn't develop as quickly as they had hoped. That's funny because only this year have they gone to more of Halak.
Price was supposed to be their #1 with Halak back-up, they thought Price was ready when they got rid of Huet.
