i'd have to agree with this especially the way he's been playing this season. i can count on one hand the number of games luongo has "stolen" for the canucks this season. not good for someone who had a $7.5 million cap hit this year ($10 million next year). he's a good goalie but he doesn't deserve all the praise he gets.
Team Canada's defense and forwards saved Luongo's ass in the Olympics hockey tournament. It is doubtful Luongo can carry the Canucks to Stanley Cup, unless the Canucks defense and offense can compensate the question mark in goaltending.

Luongo's new contract kicks in next season. The first year is 10mil, it drops off after that.
It is for 12 years if I am not mistaken and he will be a $5.333 mil cap hit/season for the balance of the contract. He will be 42 or 43 in the final year of the contract.
Does anyone think he will still be playing ?

Please. Give your head a shake.
Brodeur carries his team year after year.
I can see both sides. Overall for his career he is certainly not overrated, the many years of excellence speak for themselves.

However, lately he is being given too much respect. He's still very good and over the course of long season the quality shows up in more good performances than bad ones.

But it's also a fact that since the Lockout, Brodeur has allowed more bad goals in the Playoffs than any other goalie in the league. Perhaps as many soft goals as the entire conrference combined over the 1st & 2nd round (beyond which the Devils have not played in that time). Including singlehandedly losing a couple of games against the Hurricanes a while back.

Lots of goalies have been crucified and written off as playoff liabilities for fewer subpar performances than Brodeur has delivered in recent years.

None of this diminishes Brodeaur's alltime status - but his performances in recent years simply don't warrant the Devils being considered to have an advantage in goal against anyone today.

Most overrated lately? Bowmeester. I just never saw anything special, not at all.

Most overrated of the era? Kovalev for sure. Talent was there, but performance for the most part wasnt. Big munbers while playing on a line with prime Lemieux & Jagr don't count (Rob Brown's were much betterm didn't say much for him either...)
