More grocery shortages could be coming beyond storm delays, trucking association says

Here
Are the numbers based on people getting sick or testing positive for covid. I had mild symptoms for 2 days and a home test said I had it. The home pcr tests will post a positive if you have a basic cold. Many false positives in those numbers too.
Then you agree, the numbers the government are releasing to get public are BS

I guess those unvaxed truckers are going to have to find new jobs. Oh well.

I'm willing to bet that next weekend there is exactly zero different to everyone's breakfast. But "wake up sheeple!" or whatever it is that guy is spreading, besides advertising to the world how dumb he is.
The unvaxed trucks need not look for new jobs. There's enough of a shortage of drivers that their companies will simply reroute them. That's a case especially in America. All this will accomplish is that the Canadian receivers will end up paying much higher prices on top of the outrageous rates already being charged. Ultimately, you will pay for it.

I guess we'll see what we have for breakfast next Sunday and how much more expensive it is. I'm willing to bet there's zero change.

I had a quick look at that guys Twitter feed and I regret it. Apparently the NWO is just days away. Who knew?

Not one of those drivers will need to find a new job. When I drove truck 15 years ago the industry was operating with about 60% of what it needed. Since then with retiring drivers and guys getting fed up another 10% is gone.

This is a serious issue blocking this many drivers from crossing. Our fruit and vegetables come from down there.

Having blinders on to what's happening doesn't mean it's not happening.

OK, how long?

How long until the supply chain falls apart? A week (that's what the Tweet said...it specifically says next weekend)? 2 weeks? What are we looking at here? You're the one making the claim, so be specific as to when it's going to fail. I'll be back here the day after that to see who is right.

I don't have a date and time because as every collapse that happens they are unexpected.

The only claim I make is that assuming that this is how it is so this is how it will always be is dangerous mindset.

Those tweets are pretty over the top and remind me why I'm glad I don't have Twitter.

OK, how about a range then? Sometime in the next x to y weeks.

You clearly belive in this very strongly, why hesitate to give us a prediction based on your knowledge, research and experience in the area?

The trucking industry has been complaining of a driver shortage for 20 years. This will be no different. Stores won't be empty and people won't starve.

I walked down the same steps on my deck for years. With no warning they broke and I fell.

I knew it was coming because they were old and abused. If I had a date I wouldn't have broke them.

Why are you so angry that people say it's not a bad idea to be ready just in case?

The Tweet that I responded to here didn't say "be ready just in case". It says that the sky is falling. Not "just in case". It's reality. Next weekend your breakfast will even look different. That's just not happening. I have no problem with people being ready for an emergency (ice storm and blackout have all been in the last 15 years or so and have taught us this), but when people claim that the supply chain is on the verge of total collapse it's needless fear mongering and not based in reality.

I didn't post the tweets on Twitter or here.

No, but I responded to them and you responded to me. If you didn't want to engage on it, you didn't have to.
I engaged 1 part of what you said and agreed the tweets are over the top.

Meanwhile Schneider transport announced they are closing their Canadian division.

Supply chain is just fine.

I was in Longo's earlier today, didn't notice a thing except that the line -up at the butcher shop is longer on the weekend.

Chef Michelle Rabin has become very popular during this pandemic, she's also Matty Matheson's producer. Enjoy.

Nearly everything in the produce section comes from the US, mostly California. Our food distributors keep the miniumum possilbe amount of product in their distribution centres becuase they want to get you the freshest produce possible. The average would be around 2 days. The stores have the same approach, they minimize the on hand produce in order to have less "shrink" ( the product the clerk tosses out becuase it is not looking appealing anymore). So, we might have an average of about 5 days produce total in the supply chain. Interruptions with the snow tomorrow will exasperate the supply issues. If we reduce our flow of produce coming in by 1/3 due to mandates, we will start to see shortages on they shelves by next weekend. And it will be everywhere. Trudeau will have to back peddle, and fast. Note, that all the same thinking apply to the auto industry - they are Just In Time and as soon as supply from US parts makers get interrupted, the production line halts.

The sky still isn't falling. Schneider's decision isn't relating to border issues, driver issues etc. The property is already up for sale. It was a money losing operation for quite a while, and they're going to outsource it. If they had concerns over supply chain issues they would have kept it and turned it into a new business opportunity.
