Nearly everything in the produce section comes from the US, mostly California. Our food distributors keep the miniumum possilbe amount of product in their distribution centres becuase they want to get you the freshest produce possible. The average would be around 2 days. The stores have the same approach, they minimize the on hand produce in order to have less "shrink" ( the product the clerk tosses out becuase it is not looking appealing anymore). So, we might have an average of about 5 days produce total in the supply chain. Interruptions with the snow tomorrow will exasperate the supply issues. If we reduce our flow of produce coming in by 1/3 due to mandates, we will start to see shortages on they shelves by next weekend. And it will be everywhere. Trudeau will have to back peddle, and fast. Note, that all the same thinking apply to the auto industry - they are Just In Time and as soon as supply from US parts makers get interrupted, the production line halts.
