I'm a Habs fan but Gainey played with fire at the trading deadline and got burnt, end of story.
He went with an unproven rookie, with a minor league back-up.

Thank you, God

:D
Go Habs Go: Golfing! - time to book those tee times at the Royal Montreal course.

Life is good - very good - the series closes out in Montreal - brings back beautiful memories of being there in 1989 and having the joyful pleasure of watching the Flames hoist the Cup in the Forum, especially as all those arrogant Montreal fans/morons/idiots kept on insisting beforehand that they would never lose the Cup in their hometown.

To the misguided Hab supporters on the board - please don't cry too hard, as you sit down to your Pepsi and Poutine combo.

READ THE RULE BOOK - it was a goal and should have been

iamme said:
The Flyers got a break with that gloved goal .... and Price will be better next year. (unlike the Leafs who will be out of the playoffs again.)
THe refs on the ice ruled it hit Richards glove, the replay showed it hit Richards glove, the WAR ROOM in TORONTO saw that it hit Richards GLOVE but the goal counted because it deflected off Richards glove, he did NOT swat at it or direct it...and therefore by the RULES it COUNTED...as it should have....

The fat lady has sung...her name is KATE SMITH and she sings GOD BLESS AMERICA before FLYER home playoff games...and this thread is DONE as are the HABS.

RULE 59:

A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who bats the puck with his hand directly into the net. A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who bats the puck and it is deflected into the net off any player, goalkeeper, or Official.

RIchards did not bat the puck toward the net...his hand reached up to knock the puck down but it deflected of his glove and then maybe his shoulder...but he cleary did not BAT the puck into the net...the officials finally made the right call....

I must say the Poutine jokes are so awesome.

But what can we expect from fans with a loser mentality.

CH - Habs Nation
The Habs

Nos Canadiens lost tonight's game and got eliminated by the Flyers. You've got to give the Flyers credit … even though nos Canadiens outplayed them, the Flyers took advantage of the breaks and managed to find ways to win the series. Kudos to them.

Next year, nos Canadiens will be celebrating our 100th anniversary. We currently have a young team that has gone far this year and has learned much.

Last September 2007, everyone was saying that nos Canadiens were not going to finish in the top eight and would not make the playoffs. Well, we ended the season as the Number One team in the East. Our young players did well during the regular season and have gained experience from this year's playoff run.

Nos Canadiens have a rich history and a promising future. We have 24 Stanley Cups in 99 years … that is one quarter of all Stanley Cups since the year 1909! Next season, we will celebrate our Centennial year and we will win Cup #25 !!!

OH joy. I hate dissing fellow Canadian teams in the playoffs but wow, Montreal and that douchebag Carbonneau were sooooo friggin' arrogant, this is especially satisfying. Especially loved it when the habs fans were singing their stupid song in the second period - i hope they're still singing :) Ottawa was even more dysfunctional than usual this year, so they really couldn't afford to be cocky, but the habs took it to a new level.

ole ole ole ole... oleeeee oleeeee!!!

GO LEAFS GO (have yet to lose in the playoffs for 3 straight years)

Every time they showed Carby when Montreal had a penalty, he always had a smirk on his face.

I've never heard fans try to dictate a refs calls as they do in Montreal, every time a Hab player gets touched, they boo.

With Price in net, I highly doubt it.

Certainly sucks to be the Eastern Conference Regular Season Champions and one of the youngest teams in the leaugue.
youngest? not even in top 15 youngest...

here's the top 10 based on an average of who actually plays:
1. Phoenix Coyotes (Avg. age 26.185)
2. Edmonton Oilers (26.327)

4. Buffalo Sabres (26.511)
5. San Jose Sharks (26.667)
6. Pittsburgh Penguins (26.670)

Maybe you should have a good look at that replay.

Richard said that the Puck went off his Shoulder.

Obviously, the Goal counted and You are Right, I should have a Good Look, I'll probably enjoy it even more a Second Time.

The reply did look like the puck caught Richards shoulder but glove or shoulder doesn't matter because it deflected off one or the other...the motion of his hand was away from the net...he was not trying to bat the puck into the net.

http://www.nhl.com/hockeyu/rulebook/rule57.html#c

A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who deliberately bats the puck with any part of his body across the goal line. A goal cannot be scored where an attacking player bats the puck and it is deflected off any player or goalkeeper into the net.
If an attacking player has the puck deflect into the net, off his skate or body, in any manner, the goal shall be allowed. The player who deflected the puck shall be credited with the goal.

Rule 67.6 also covers this situation...

Now I hope the RANGERS take their series to a game seven.

I must admit, that I'm looking forward to seeing the FLYERS getting a shot at Pittsburgh but an extended series with the PENGUINS and RANGERS would be nice.

Malkin and Crosby looked very frustrated against the Rangers the other day...

I am glad the Habs are out. I really can't believe that almost everyone is blaming Price. He lets in one bad goal (Philly's third goal) and everyone is saying how bad he is. Was anyone watching the game? Give the kid a break.
I am sure he will bounce back next year. BTW, the Habs actually went out the second round while Huet was out the first round.

Detroit was always my pick to win the Cup this year and I really believe they will win but it would be nice to see someone else win. Can you imagine San Jose winning the Cup? It is not that far fetched as you might think. They have a solid team.
