Imagine before heading to the office each morning you got a call from the boss. He asks if you'll come to work for a lower rate in pay, just a few dollars less because that's all they feel you're worth or all they can afford.
You got this call every day.
Would you say it's reasonable, part of being in a free capitalist system?
if you're selling yourself at a half-hourly rate to generally non-recurring customers then i'd say its fair to say you can expect the market to react as it does!

Exactly. I think I used a similar analogy before.... It may not be a perfect analogy but the point is most people would not enjoy their job as much and probably not perform as well.

The worst is when the guy asks me to split the cost of the hotel room with him.

Amen. Give the girl her money, you cheap bastards.
Exactly!
I simply hang up or kick them out if they start to haggle at the door, once they have entered (knowing the price beforehand). I wouldn't be able to give them the best of me so why even bother with them. My business does fine without them.

Girls can charge whatever they want. Guys can choose to whomever they want based on their finances. That's the market.
EDIT: and I also think O Ziri should become paid advertiser. Complaining about hagglers while not paying for ads is hypocrisy.
Yeah, Yeah. You and the other haters can stop piling on now.
I AM now a paid advertiser!

I know that in my business that the moment you begin to haggle, the retailer gets his back up and wants the customer to go away...however, if the customer doesn't mention price and continues with the transaction...the retailer immediately loves him and will throw in any extras that he wants and will service him to no end...
Think about it...you cheap prick...

Will you be giving a discount now that you're blue???? How about 139.99/hh? With rounding we'll just make it 140 ........... LOL

It always amazes me how some jerks would actually have the nerve to ask an SP to see them for a fraction of their usual rate. Talk about disrespect ..........

Other than trying to save a few bucks, I've never seen the upside in trying negotiate over price on an hour's service.
I'd rather spend time with a happily paid provider, and not go into a session with any kind of negativity.

This is it for me. Those that call these experiences nothing more than a "business transaction" don't get it. This isn't a car where whether you pay $50,000 or $49,000 gets you the exact same experience, here what you get will vary to a great degree to the willingness of your partner to exceed your expectations. Why would I endanger the connection over a few bucks? Unlike the car, a change in price could be a major factor in whether I get a full effort. Seems ridiculous to me. No thanks.

Moral of the story, if you suck cock for a living, have sex with clients for money or choke the chicken for a dollar and are here on this board you should be a PAID member, no excuses regardless of how well your reviews are, and this goes for all the SP's and MPA's period!
Um sorry to knock you off your high horse dude but unless you are Fred or some sort of owner of this board, your demands are not worth the paper I wipe my ass with. It is not you that makes that determination but the owners/operators of this board. I don't know what their restrictions are but if they allow SPs on here without being paid advertisers, that's their call. Who are you to make the rules?

On the other hand, often, the amount we pay does not translate into quality of service.

Ever heard of working on a salary?

I get paid the same if I work 40 hours per week or 80 hours per week.

My contract says that a standard work week is 40 hours.

My typical work week is between 50 and 60.

I do not receive a dime in compensation for all hours over and above 40 hours per week. This is the law of the jungle. Gotta work all day Saturday on that proposal? Buy yourself Swiss chalet for lunch.

So how does your example hold up now?

I have clients who consistently negotiate and renegotiate terms. They tender a project for millions and I'm the lowest bidder and then they call me up and question my breakdown and why my item x is more than my competition's item x (ignoring the fact that my item a b c d e and f is lower than my competition's).

How about that?

Everything is negotiable.

But no one is obligated to accept a lower figure.

I could see being offended if a guy was insulting in his offer, like your rate is 300 an hour and he offers you 40.

Perhaps it would make more sense to stick to the rate, but get more scope of services for that rate.
