not sure if mccabe knows which team he is playing for anymore! seems he is the property of 29 other teams and we just pay him! what a joke! first shotting it just over your net before the third period ended! then he goes and scores the winning goal, for the wrong team! can we put him as a forward or does he have that in his contract also that he can only play defense, if he even does that!

Sabres defeat Leafs in OT on a goal by Bryan McCabe.....

And that says it all. Too funny on the morning break on the Fan590.....

Can opener gone. Confidence gone. Never had any speed. Decision making ability gone. Covered to well to get that shot off more than once per game. $5.75 MILLION a year.

Holy jumping Jesus!!

The funniest part is that it took McCabe 2 chances to score on his own net. Just before regulation ended he winged one across the front of his own net that just about took Raycroft out. On his second chance though he made sure and buried it!

We can only hope he gets injured and is out of the lineup. After last night, one of his own teammates may take him out.

well as long as you are booing management from a (purchased) seat at the ACC they'll cry all the way to the bank

If the Sens (and many other teams) don't win or appear to be trying to win ... No Butts in the seats !!

Ballard discovered that T.O fans will put up with anything ... and the legacy lives on
And the leaf nation gladly pays for it

(geez Kat I love that sig. pic , makes ya wanna keep your stick on the ice !!)

While no fan of McCabe or his contract he does seem a little like the latest in a long line of whipping boys that leaf fans need to lash out at -- I remember Vaive getting almost booed off the ice even though he was the only thing close to a goal scorer we had at the time - as if they could find blame in an individual for poor team performance.

Added to Vaive has been Larry Murphy and any other number of individuals who have been blamed for poor team performance. Just look at the post's today -- half the posters here seem to now be praising Raycroft - when only days ago it seemed like it was his fault and his fault alone that the leafs were a terrible team. And look at our new hero --Nik Andropov -- a guy many fans would have happily traded for a bag of pucks as recently as last season

Has McCabe sucked this year? So far, I'd have to say yeah, but he sure isn't the only one.

Antro has easily been the best leafs player this season.

He has played well, but I think he is in the league leaders in penalty minutes.. And I dont believe that any of those are for fighting... which means that he has left his team shorthanded too often...

Why are we so angry at McCabe ... All he did was ask for that stupid salary figure and the GM gave it to him ... Management should be booing him and we should be boing management ..
The problem are the glaring mistakes... the kind that even the uneducated fans like me can see so clearly, that you wonder... WTF is the guy thinking?

I agree it was really dumb for them to give a one dimensional D-man such a huge contract. But I think Kathleen hit the nail on the head, now that Kaberle is not covering for him, his weaknesses stick out that much more.

For the past two games, I decided to just key on Mccabe when he is on the ice to see if perhaps I was being unfair to him... My verdict is that the criticism is well deserved...

It looks to me like McCabe has completely lost his confidence, and at times tries to do more than he actually can... thats when he fucks up even bigger!!

Funny... I was listening to Bill Waters show earlier this year, and all he could do was talk about Toskala, and he kind of (but not directly) put Raycroft down as the reason for the leafs not making a playoffs. Waters thought that the Toskala signing was great.. Yesterday, I head him saying---its not the goalie, it's the defence......

I had respect for Waters, but now I am not so sure... seems to be sucking and blowing at the same time... perhaps its overexposure...

Doesn't that describe McCabe in a nutshell !!

McCabe's biggest problem..he never was..and never will be a true top 2 D on any NHL team. His play has never warranted the minutes that Quinn or Maurice give him. He is a specialist when he is on his game..a power paly specialist..that's it !!...the guy should be getting 18-20 mins MAX !!

Listening to Maurice, and teamamtes defend him today...you know that is just the company line. How can anyone watch that guy play this season and think he has anything at this point to offer??. OF course, we were all saying the same thing about Antropov for a long time...but to hope that the same thing will happen for McCabe is a pipe dream. My guess is that the pressure is gonna get to be too much for him, and he'll waive his no trade clause.

IN the end, a lot of the blame for last nights loss can be spread around,

#1 Paul Maurice...have you got a system to protect a lead??...and WTF is McCabe doing on the ice in the dying seconds of overtime??

#2..the Leafs so-called # 1 line...especially Sundin and Blake, where the hell are these guys??.....Sundin was no where to be found on Saturday against Pittsburgh either. He is starting to look every bit his 37 yrs. IF this kind of play keeps up from him, we can thank our lucky stars he was only signed for 1 yr ...time for Sundin to pick it up

# 3 Darcy Tucker....a glorified grinder...seems to skate around a lot..and accomplish very little

We are 7 games in ..and the Leafs have 6 points....looks like the same drive for the final playoff spot. And to think the team depth is so poor that some are awaiting a mediocre center's return...Wellwood...like it was the 2nd coming of the Great One...

The common thread with all the Leafs problems is JFJ (brilliant observation, I know), fire him first and then deal with the players. Don't be too surprised if Bowman is there by the end of the year and cleans house.

The Leafs are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

It's not that McCabe sucks as much as everyone else on the ice is better. :D

I would let him play on our Old Timers team (not defense though).

Even if he waives his clause, there's no way to trade him, nobody will take on that contract, he's the least desired player out there. Before the cap you could trade a player and agree to pay part of his salary just to get rid of him, that can't be done now.

He's a marginal player thay had a big year, Souray is somewhat similar. Leafs are stuck with him. I don't blame him as much as Ferguson, no other GM would give him near the money, they knew he wasn't that good.

As much as I do dislike McCabe the defenceman, I feel for McCabe the person.
Kathleen darling, isn`t that why the good doc thinks you are so kind to McCabe??? He should come forward and beg you to forgive him and promise he will never suck again. LOL!!!
