No, I do not believe that he stole it from the Leafs. I understand your issue but he today would get more money than the original contract. He produces, and he is an excellent player.

Look at his points, compare him , he will have a good year.

Also, It really is only exhibition.
There's no way McCabe gets more money from another team or else there would've been offers on the table back then. Remember when McCabe was holding out at the time the Leafs finally offered him that ridiculous five-year, $28.75 million deal (with every no trade clause or movement imaginable!) and expecting to get the max when there were no offers from other teams? Gm's across the league were not willing to anti up on this guy! That and the fact his wife wanted to head back to Long Island. JFJ is still taking heat for giving McCabe that contract!

The bottom line is, his defensive skills SUCK and Kaberle is the reason why McCabe had that big year offensively before his contract came up. There is no way in hell that McCabe is a 5Mil player (half of that at best!)now and certainly wasn't when they offered that money to begin with!

McCabe being resigned was a HUGE mistake. At the Olympics, we saw McCabe's weaknesses exposed to the greatest degree. The man is NOT fast enough. He is a good point man, but that is about it. Without Kaberle covering up for him, or some other good stay at home defensemen, he is not worth the money. His best move is the "can-opener" which last time I looked was called Tripping or Interference. Either way, when your best move is dumping a guy and not getting caught for it, you are not much of a defensemen.

McCabe was signed because the idiots on the B. O. D. wanted him signed and JFJ was too much of a yes man to point out any weaknesses in McCabe's game. Too many people in the seats at ACC liked McCabe and the management were afraid if not signed they would hear about it. It would be nice if the idiots running this team hired a good GM, walked away from telling him what to do and let him run the hockey operation as they see fit. Instead, we have idiots like Peddie and Tanenbaum meddling in the hockey operation when none of them know their ass from a hole in the ground. They set the Basketball side free to be run by a competant guy, why do us hockey fans have to suffer? McCabe is the poster child for the ineptness of the Leafs, but why you guys are all verklept about this after a bad exhibition game. How many of you were up in arms when this stiff was signed?

They should of let him walk away after he asked for big time $$$. I would of used that kind of cash to lure Pronger. I'm sure his wife would of loved Toronto.
His wife then would be worried about those CityTV babes, SportNet babes, TSN babes ;)

Maybe that's why Bowman won't come to Toronto because of MLSE Board, Peddie & Tannebaum. Too much meddling

Pronger's wife wanted a place where she can trade up her collection of Luis Vuitton articles. Toronto, Atlanta, Miami or New York woulda suited her just fine.

McCabe is getting paid to be an offensive player not for defense, maybe they should pair him with a defensive defenseman to offset his poor defensive skills. then again maybe I wrong and the Leafs defense all suck

..Mccabe looks fat and out of shape. I hope they have a brain fart and trade Kaberle, just to show what an ordinary player this guy really is.

McCabe was terrible last night, he had to be a -4 or -5 and takes another dumb penalty late in the game ending any chance the Buds had of getting back into it.

Attention JFJ: BUY MCCABE OUT OR TRADE HIM TO THE NYI FOR A BUG OF FUCKING PUCKS AND A COUPLE OF ROLLS OF TAPE !!!
