They publicly shame in in media for his views?
You think you can't sue someone for that?

Are you for real?

Regardless of anything else, his nature of employment, his views right or wrong, you can't post random shit in papers without consequence.
You know what libel, slander, defamation mean right?
You are wrong...again.

They did not publicly shame him...there was no wrongdoing.

I do know what libel, slander, defamation means...it all deal's with making false statements and they didn't do that.

I am beginning to suspect you do not know what the word "wrong" means...
Not surprising from a covidiot but still

They posted (on the news) he was fired BEFORE he was fired

Firing in general always needs a reason (I posted link to BC workers rights for you) firing is illegal while a business is shut down (which they are due to covid, again link provided to you) and I still think it is laughable that you (somehow) think making it into a public spectacle (owner twitter) is any way acceptable (go ask anyone in HR about this since you refuse to believe what you read)

Wrong again...

I will quote from the link you provided earlier, "Employers can end an employee's job by giving written working notice or pay (called compensation for length of service). They can also choose to give a combination of both notice and pay."

In other words, they can just end your job provided they give notice or pay...they don't have to give a reason.

Omg are you ever right?

FIRED means cause so no you can not just randomly fire someone you don't like
Even for layoff you can decline the offered severance and fight for more
Do you know anything at all about anything!

Fun For All is 100% correct. Unless one is in a union and there is a provision within the contract, ANYONE can be fired for anything as long as proper severance is given.

There are a few exceptions an employer must be very careful with and that is employees who are on maternity leave or close to going off on maternity leave in other words pregnant. . As long as a case cannot be made for violating one's Human Rights.

If you worked for me, not that you would ever get passed the screening I would fire you in a heartbeat! I also would never buy a car or a house from such a ignorant salesman. LMAO

We have also been warned by HR and our lawyers to be careful what we say about a current or former employee. Otherwise, we risk getting sued for damaging his/her reputation which might make that person unemployable. Hence, we refer all reference and similar questions to our HR department (that's why they make the big bucks, LOL).

BTW: The big issue confronting our HR department now is can we "force" an employee to take the COVID vaccine?

BTW 2: This will be the 5th year our company will not throw a Christmas party, including the one for the kids.

Are they worried that at the Christmas party some will get liquored up and tell someone off?

I'm beginning to suspect you do not know what the word "covidiot" means.

Macmillian Dictionary defines “covidiot” as “an insulting term for someone who ignores health advice about COVID-19." Urban Dictionary takes a pretty similar approach, defining “covidiot” as “someone who ignores the warnings regarding public health or safety.”
Basically, a covidiot doesn’t take COVID-19 and the risks of the virus seriously, despite what government officials and the global health community say.

That definition does not seem to describe FFA.

Firing in general always needs a reason...... firing is illegal while a business is shut down
WRONG. (I looked up the meaning.)

1)Somebody can be fired without cause. It just means that the company has to pay severance as opposed to firing somebody with cause (like stealing) in which case severance is not required.
2)The NHL and Canucks are not shut down. It is the offseason so there are no games but they are still conducting business.

Your "wrong streak" is intact. Keep it going.

Now go back and re-read WHEN
It is clearly stated under BC law that you can NOT fire someone (or even give notice) while business is closed (check) or people are not at work due to medical (covid) check

You guys are super-selective in what you care to read its pretty funny

You continue to be wrong...

Business is not closed, Vancouver Canucks are open for business wither there are games or not and medical refers to if Mark Donnelly was sick or on medical leave.

Wrong again...you're setting a record today...check...

The NHL is not closed...you can go on any team's website, lets say the Vancouver Canucks and buy merchandise, 50/50, put down payment on future tickets, players are being signed and let go...you don't need games to be open for business.

Guys, just be careful out there if you value your job and career. Now more than ever what you say and do can come back to hurt you with all the cellphone cameras and social media around.

Remember when the founder of Lululemon said "not all women look good in yoga pants"? He's now begging for spare change at the corner of Bay and King.

Free advice: Make an excuse not to attend the company Christmas party.

I don’t think there will be too many Christmas parties with COVID...

I already told you, the business is NOT CLOSED. Did he have covid? Was he in quarantine? There was no medical issue for him.

No and you've stretched it to unreasonable terms.

The world has Public Heath departments for a reason...
Everything I wrote is exactly what is happening. It is unreasonable, that we agree on, however, there was no stretching.

So you’re saying that the Vancouver Canucks support the unreliable PCR test, testing of asymptomatic people, the fallacy that cloth and paper masks protect at all, and that closing businesses and/or deciding what people can, and can’t buy inside the same store, is socially responsible?
Everything I wrote is exactly what is happening. It is unreasonable, that we agree on, however, there was no stretching.
In your top post here...did the Vancouver Canucks come out in support of all that?

The secret to surviving the company Xmas party is to leave early...or get pissed with the bosses. Of course good companies have the what happens here stays here policy.
