Trade Deadline Day! Love it!
Would you offer Kadri for Stone? Ottawa will say no for sure. But, Leafs can throw in prospects and picks along with Kadri for a rental - Stone. Or better yet, give them Nylander straight up for Stone. I know Stone is older but...
Fun day,indeed!
I think Toronto says no.
Kadri is a strong centre, with a team friendly contract, with term.
On a lot of clubs he'd be a #2C, Toronto is blessed to have him centering their 3rd line.
Centres are more valuable than wingers. Why trade a very good C for a very good W?
Stone is a rental (for Toronto, plain & simple.
Toronto can't just "throw in prospects & picks", the Maple Leafs farm system is quite shallow right now.
Picks & prospects are currency, have value in their low cost.
You did say something correct, if you "give them Nylander straight up for Stone".
you'd be giving away a hell of a 22 year old for someone about to exit their prime years (Mark Stone).
Illogical at best, deceitful at worst.

Looks like Stone ended in Vegas. Leafs maybe thinking they're not good enough to beat the top two teams in the East this Spring. Nothing done by 3pm Guess Leafs fans need to wait for..60 years to win the Cup! LOL

Stone immediately signed a long term extension with Vegas for about $9 million a year.

Why didn't the Leafs pick up Anton Slepyschev?

Let's put matters into perspective, the Leafs are putting 52 years of horrific management behind them, they're not Cup contenders yet. Anything that comes from this years playoffs is gravy. Enjoy it for what it is and they're only going to get stronger with passing season.

Always remember, when Jim Devellano (local boy from Jane and Wilson) was remaking the Red Wings, he fired this guy.

Why did Ilyich hire Devellano...because Harold Ballard was stupid, next question.

Don't feel bad folks, think of the people of Ottawa. According to the Portuguese Casanova, they kept the legendary Bobby Ryan.

Talk about over-reaction. Leafs traded their 1st round draft pick. Did you miss that? Should they trade another 1st round draft pick? They're not going all in for 1 year. They're in it for several years. Last 2 years they traded 2nd round picks for 4th line center rentals. Is that what you want?

Par Lindholm has been traded to the Jets. So, Leafs will have Nic Petan,Moore and Muzzin to prepare for the playoffs?:whoo:
They got Tavaras who they didn't have last year. Did you miss that?

Petan and the Leafs are the winners on that trade. Petan’s got some strength and Winnipeg just wouldn’t let him out of the press box.
I'm with you on that one. Good riddance on Lindholm. He was small and useless and Leafs obviously knew that.

Stone signed extension 8 years 9.5 million. Talk of trading Kadri for Stone was pointless. Stone is a far superior player to Kadri center or not. The only advantage Kadri had was he is paid a lot less. Not only that, why would Ottawa want Kadri. They are rebuilding.

Like Gcostanza said. Stone would be a rental for Leafs. Can't believe you want to trade a boatload for Stone as a rental. It's not more scoring that they need. I agree with Gconstanza as well on Nylander. 4 years younger. In the same age group as the other cores Matthews and Marner. Already good and not yet in his prime years.

Matthews and Marner are still in their ELC. They are not yet in their prime.

Another 30 goal season. Has any Leaf ever scored 30 or more in his first 4 seasons?

With Lindholm gone they now have Gauthier killing penalties. For someone who has always been considered a defensive forward right from the get go when he was drafted it's about time. It would be a waste if he wasn't able to kill penalties.

If you're asking from their rookie season onwards I would have guessed Wendel Clark. But he only did for his first two seasons then got injured for the next three.
I know Rick Vaive did in his first full season since being traded from Vancouver.

Andersen steals yet another game for the Leafs.
If the NHL ever considers participating in the Olympics again, the line of Matthews, Eichel and P Kane would be lethal.

Ilitch.

There is simply no trade market for Bobby Ryan.
For the Senators to move him, they'd have to put some young prospects/draft picks into the deal to sweeten the pot.
Ottawa is busy collecting those assets, not disposing of them.

Matthews is the first to do it in the first 3 years of his career.

So the answer to your question is NO.
Yup, and he'll probably do it again next year and the year after and the year after and the year after...

30 moving forward would be a disappointment. Try at least 40.

Leafs have 20 games remaining. Same number as Boston. Boston has 1 point more than the Leafs but Leafs have 2 wins more than the Bruins. It should be a good rematch for the playoffs. They have Tavaras, Muzzin, and more of Kadri they didn't have last year.
