That was scripted 100% IMHO.

That's the impression I got. I noticed how he became perceptibly more aware when responding to the audience and Schaeffer and I think one time he came close to laughing. Hard to say for sure, though.

I'd say if it was scripted, it definitely promoted the movie better than if that interview was not scripted.

I'd rather see the movie knowing JP was having a laugh than if I knew the lead actor was totally fucked up.
