Toronot generates a lot of money for Canada and most of that money ends end up elsewhere. That's fine, it's called redistribution of wealth for a reason. However, people form Tornot get upset when the hear others talking down about them because don't the other people realize how much Toronto helps out the rest of Canada? All the big cities do but Toronto does the most simply becuase it's the biggest ad the financial capital of Canada.

There are lots of people out there that are just full of hate. They're not worth the time of day.

I like living in Toronto for the Most part but I could do without the traffic or the fact there is not enough roads to handle the traffic. I found it odd that I had an easier time driving in NY City then Toronto. I also do not care for the ladies here, I find them unfriendly (unless you are giving them money) if they are interested in you it seems to be what you do or more how much you make at what you do. When I had Friends from out of town come by they say that Toronto Girls are stuck up and have nothing to be stuck up about and many other negative things about them however they like the city for its other attributes.
So I think it is the Women's Fault LOL

Actually, the 401 is an Engineering masterpiece. It handles more cars every day than any other highway in North America and that is a fact. There's quite a thrill to barreling along at 130 out by the airport and looking around and just FEELING the energy of it all.
You must be a very rich man Tiberius; on that route there are so many places where the OPP has radar.

I'm proud to be from Toronto and I don't hide the fact when I'm travelling in Canada. At the time of the Quebec referendum, I was in Calgary. While having a few beers I was asked where i was from and I said Toronto. They told me that Toronto was in cahoots with Quebec to break up the country. I told them that if a civil war broke out I would be one of the first to pick up a gun and defend Canada; they (Albertans) would run to the Americans for protection.

For a moment there was silence, there was four of them I was by myself, then they bought me a beer.

What if it is people from Alberta?

I've been all over Canada.
Two things creep up most often.
1) True envy of what Toronto offers, disguised as a "holier than Thou" my small town is the best place on earth.
2)Anger....Because Toronto is guilty of "stealing" their young.

I think Toronto's ok. It's multicultural, clean, safe, and has everything.

Compared to many other cities, I noticed it's very hard to make new friends. People are very cliquish, and it's very hard for an outsider to fit in. Just my experience.
That's the worst part for me. The cities I like are less uptight...it makes me question my decision of moving to toronto in the first place. Also, it's just not that attractive of a city....travel a bit and you'll see some really amazing cities that put ours to shame (Barcelona, valencia, Prague, Prague, chicago...)

It is like ex-smokers on smoking... they are more critical than anyone else.

Many of the people in the west that despise Toronto are from Toronto / the GTA. I know this first hand, because I am one of those people.

Most people in the west feel that torontonians as arrogant and see toronto as the centre of the universe

It has nothing to do with toronto being multicultural... the GVA is also very multicutural

It did not take me long to see the light and support groups that seek western separation. The west is best. Unlike Quebec, we do not need the rest of Canada and could thrive on our own.

It is funny, the media portrays Albertans as being very outspoken and wanting change more than other province, but talk to any Albertan and they will tell you that the people on the other side of the mountains, in BC are far more radical than they are.

There is much discontent in the west, with Canada. Mr Harper will help alleviate some of that with senate reform, but that will be too little too late. The only option is western separation.

It's all relative to the territory. Within the city there are neighbourhoods that knock other neighbourhoods....but when others put down our city we unite to defend it. Same goes for provinces and territories that bicker with one another...but when an outsider insults our country we defend it together. It may seem childish but we all think our place of residence is the best. It's disappointing that only Toronto seems to get the flack when people from Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, (insert city).....hype up their city just as much as Toronto.

Oh yeah, I did that once trying to get from Ontario to Wisconsin. At least in Toronto you stay on one highway and if you need to exit, the majority of the time it will be on the right side of the highway. In Chicago you never knew whether you'd need to be on the left or the right side to make your exit.
CHI is older city. Engineers made it easy for them not for the motorist.

BTW, Certain west end GTA exits are like that.

Rush hour on the loop in Chicago is the most frustrating driving experience you can have. London with all its narrow streets and time regulations makes it take hours to get across the city. Rush hour in most big cities starts at 2pm and ends at midnight. We have a couple of hours of congestion. We have it pretty good.
LDN yes, so I stuck with the tubes.

You're right with cities like Bangkok & Jakarta with extended rush hours.

But only time we got stuck in CHI were construction reduced Wabash to 1 lane. Rest of the time no problem on the loop, even while Clinton's entourage blocked off most roads that day. Then again, I thrive on 1 way streets & roads less travel.

For the record, I love T.O. No place like home!

The most arrogant-attitude city I was in was Florence, Italy.

As for Toronto being arrogant... I'd say there are *parts* of the city where you'll run into arrogance

Where in Toronto did Conrad Black live again? Was it Rosedale? I remember reading that to get his new mansion built required that a few nice older houses had to be torn down.

he lives on the bridlepath not in rosedale

The concept of western seperation is dramatic and fun, but its just an adolescent pipe dream of a bunch of nouveau riche cowboys with too much oil and horse shit on their boots. It would be wiser to try to improve things for Canadians. Why creat some false impression of imbalance which just stirrs up alot of misplaced anger among the impressionable. We Canadians have it pretty good. Whe should improve on what we have, not rant like idiots.

For about $220 per hour you can make some very close friends very fast.
And lose them almost as quickly :)

For a twelve year old, you really have a way with words. Got trouble with your facts though. Try work on that, okay? We're all pulling for you.
