unsure why Berube put in Paciorety, hasnt played in like what 2-3 months, and he puts him in here?? this Robertson kid has been the scapegoat on this team since he got here. plays hard every shift, has SPEED , yeah hes not the biggest, but you cant deny the effort.
Leafs have the advantage but they also have a choker's mentality...so 50/50
Apparently Leafs power play is on a 0 for 30 run in close out games under the Matthews era. That is an astounding stat. They've also allowed a short handed goal in each of the last 2 close out games.
The only series they won, which was against TB, they won 3 OT games. So that's what it takes.
If they had lost one of those 3 OT games there would have been a game 7. The epitome of a close out game.

Florida won the Presidents Trophy in 2022. That season Florida like the Leafs was a tremendous offensive team. They scored a whopping 340 goals. Huberdeau had 115 pts. Leafs were second in scoring with 315 goals. In a lot of ways Florida and Toronto were very similar teams at that stage. In the playoffs both teams lost to TB.
Florida losing in 4 straight. TB was 3rd in the Division behind the Leafs who were 2nd.
The following season Huberdeau was traded for Matthew Tkachuk. They changed their playing style. Barely made the playoffs but made the Finals so in a way they built a lesser regular season team but a much better playoff team. They are now dominating TB in the playoffs and on the verge of a mini Dynasty. Imagine if the Leafs rather than Marner, who is in a lot of ways like Huberdeau, had instead a player like Brady Tkachuk who makes less. We've already seen what a line with Matthews and Brady looks like.
