Hence why Leafs are looking for a 3rd line center.
It's almost a given they'll trade for one before the playoffs start.
Ice time Leafs D for the game:
McCabe 26:05
Tanev 24:16
OEL 22:36
Rielly 16:26
McCabe was out for all of the most recent 3 game losing streak and the D looked weak.
If either of McCabe or Tanev is injured for the playoffs it's all over. Same as when Muzzin injured himself against Columbus and Montreal.
Rielly's game sadly does not translate well under Berube's system. With the lead they still went with a 5 forward PP. Defending the lead to end the game when it was still on the line didn't see Rielly out there much.
A rare real hockey fight like the old days; Both were throwing bombs without clutching and holding but not many landed Reaves lost balance early but landed the harder punch. I’d call it a draw.
That's great, but keep in mind Manitoba is in last place overall in the league.
Murray is top 2 in GAA and Save PCT in the AHL, but has played fewer games.
Having said that, it's good to see him get another chance in the NHL.
Earlier in the season they were winning most of the 1 goal games (plus empty netters).
Now they're losing those. They have a goal differential of +8 with a won/loss differential of +9.
This is the way the playoffs will look for them. Can't score much and look to win more 1 goal games than they lose.
That Morgan Rielly contract extension has turned out to be a noose around the Leafs neck. FFS I said from the get go that was horrible. The dude cannot play defense. And this season he seems like he can't play offense either. 22 points in 50 games. A minus 18. And 19 total hits so far. They would be smart to buy him out because he's pretty much untradeable at this point.
