TB should pass Leafs when it's all said and done and play Florida.
Should be a good series.
Leafs will play either Boston or NYR ... and TB in the 2nd round as underdogs

Wow. Penguins just overtook Philly for the 2nd Eastern wildcard spot. This final 4 or 5 team race is amazing.

TB is so lucky to have a great Russian goalie whose body is as wide as the 2 goal posts apart. He just have to block the goal and no one can score. I wonder what does he eat to become so big.

CP
Leafs have a Russian goalie who beat a great Russian goalie in the playoffs.

The last game of the season btwn Leafs and TB could decide who plays Florida.
For those still shouting we want Florida it's a must win for Leafs I suppose.

Flyers have lost 7 in a row. Seems right around the time Torts scratched their captain was when the slide happened.
Washington have lost 5 in a row. I suppose with a -40 goal differential that was inevitable.
That opened the door for Detroit but instead Pitt took it. They could still do it but Pitt has the momentum.
They play the Leafs tomorrow.

Leafs are tied with Boston for active most consecutive seasons making the playoffs with 8 since 2017
TB and Colorado are at 7 since 2018
Buffalo has not made the playoffs in 13 straight seasons including this.

I think the Leafs can beat Florida.
Leafs could beat Boston or NYR as well. There are always upsets.
Regular season is not the playoffs but Leafs have a 23-9-6 road record.
Better than their home record.

They lost all 4 games to Boston in the regular season but I'd like to see some redemption from the Leafs and win a game 7 from them. Boston is not quite the same team without Bergeron and Krejci. They were injured in the playoffs last year hence why it closed the gap with Florida.

Rangers have a comparable high end forward group to the Leafs plus they have a Norris calibre D in Fox and proven goaltending but quite frankly any team Leafs will meet has proven goaltending. Rangers also have their captain on D as well as a wrecking ball in Rempe.

Florida played nothing like their playoff style against the Leafs in their last game but the Leafs are also a tougher team overall. It was 4-1 last year but 4 of the 5 games were by 1 goal and 2 were in OT which Leafs lost both. Bobrovsky was also spectacular and Samsonov was injured. I don't see the margin as large so certainly Leafs can win.

Are we confident yet in who our #1 goalie is going into the playoffs?

One of Boston/NYR will play TB and the other along along with Carolina will play one of Detroit/NYI/Pitt/Caps/Flyers each except Carolina cannot play Detroit.
Florida Leafs is the only sure thing right now in the East. TB losing to Pitt and Leafs beating Pitt made it so.
Only home ice to be decided and they still have a game to play. That should be a pick'em series.

In the West Avs and Jets are a sure thing. Edm will play one of Kings/Vegas and the other along with Preds will play Stars and Vancouver one each.

Matthews reached 100 pts for the 2nd time in his career and Nylander is on the cusp.
Number of players with over 100 pts by season for full 82 game seasons:

2017-2018 3
2018-2019 6
2019-2020 covid
2020-2021 covid
2021-2022 8
2022-2023 11
2023-2024 9 (season is not over)
