Well, the good news is that we now have a bona fide #2 centre and a #1 goalie which we didn't have on day 1.
I like your enthusiasm, and now I see the WE in your post :thumb:. I like our chance this series. It may be nothing, but B could have won the division last night against Ottawa...but instead shown they are BEATABLE, Go Leafs Go!

Talk about strong down the middle.

The last time Leafs played Boston in the playoffs we had Sittler, Keon and Ullman.

How the times have changed.

But, did Boston have Bobby Orr? BTW: I still remember Stittler breaking LaFleur's forearm with a vicious slash in one of the playoff series.

I would have preferred the Habs, yet it could be a good match, the Leafs beat the Bruins and took them to a shoot out in the last two games, brunin were 3-5-1 compared to 5-4-1 for the Leafs, so it should be good, but the buds have to play near perfect.

Damm !!! The last time the Leafs were this close to facing the Habs in the playoffs they were playing the Kings in game Seven . Oh well here is hoping for a T.O vs Montreal will be in the Confernce Final then . I bet the heads of CBC will be getting a huge hard on if that happens .

With Phaneuf in the lineup..Toronto will miss the PLAYOFFS this year.

He plays FAR TOO MANY minutes..influencing too much of the game negatively.

as of last night..Leafs are ONLY 3 points up from missing the playoffs.
Not such a good call.
So what do you think now Frank ?

(let it be known..Frank is an excellent predictor)
LOL

Playoffs
Game one tonight

Go Leafs !

One of the over riding reasons that I thought Toronto would miss...was Phaneufs poor play, particularly given that he was playing TOO MANY MINUTES PER GAME.

At the time, I implored the Leafs to get him off the ice.....given his +/-, and to cut his minutes.
I of course thought Fraser should play more.

As it turned out, Carlyle DID CUT HIS MINUTES IN many games, as I had suggested.....and this no doubt played a role in Leafs making the playoffs.

Now..of course after game 1, we played extremely poorly. The turning point being Phaneufs boneheaded penalty allowing the Bruins to score LATE IN THE FIRST AND TAKE THE LEAD. After that it was all over.....

I did note, Phaneuf played a huge number of minutes...although the whole team was simply deplorable....outshot 2:1

Deplorable, deplorable... Frankie? You have always been ready to condemn, haven't you?

Our Buds played poorly last night, yes. The Bruins made them look bad too... But DEPLORABLE? Armchair expert, please!

What about the Isles, 5-0! When the opposition play its top game, it make it as if we were the Marlies. But remember one thing: it is a best of 7 series, you never know what might happen or which team will show up game 2, Leafs or Marlies.

Even if (Terb forbit) our team lose this series, I myself still commend the Buds for an exciting season. Have faith and have fun.

We underestimated you. Apologies.

We never knew you were on the payroll as a consultant.

Let's remember the Bruins had the best home record in the conference and I think second best in the league, so this is not that surprising, but when you play on a postage stamp rink half the year, it puts a new meaning to home advantage.

Lets not forget the Leafs vs Wings 1992/93 when Leafs lost 6-3 and 6-2 first two games . I bet Leafs nation felt the series was over .

I believe someone posted earlier that all rinks are uniform size. The old Garden was smaller but not the new rink.

I do stand corrected, but we all know how home ice can be established with certain ice, board, and glass tweaking, not to mention fan noise. the Madhouse on Madison is a perfect example.

Leafs need to play their game on Saturday.
The Leafs played like turtles. Not all of them, just too many of them.

Some players were trying. Others just weren't, and some where overwhelmed and confused.

I never like Bozak as the center with Kessel. All Bozak ever does is give the puck to Kessel. That can work against many teams but never against this Bruins team. When Bozak gives the puck to Kessel, the Bruins will always have two players close in on Kessel. Since Bozak is no where to be found, Kessel get eaten up always against the Bruins. The Leafs so-called first line must play like a team, but they never do. The Bruins figured out just concentrate on Kessel and forget about Bozak.

This Bruins team can be had, but is it doubtful this Leaf team could do it. Not enough horses. The Bruins defense is slower than I thought. Off the glass and out, then have the wingers chase the puck. Dump it in and chase the puck.

Kosta may have played his last game in the NHL. Frasor must pick it up, or he will wind up like Kosta.

Clark McCarthur has lost a step. Don't think he will be back next year.

You got to like Garborski's effort. The Bruins go after Garborski and Kadri. That's a strong message to everyone especially management of what they think of your players and who to key on.

Put Colbourne in there. A big body who maybe can play keep away with the puck and forecheck. Other than JVR, that first line was missing in action. It all starts with the center in my opinion.

As the game wore on, Carlysle was looking for anything. Anything.
