See MSNBC for details. Floyd is not missing, he has gone away it appears due to a preliminary positive test for testosterone during the Tour De France.

Landis didnt time his cycle right :D

Something doesnt add up here, he doesnt look like he's on steroids, he's skinny as hell.
Testosterone is a water retention drug, he would look midly bloated if he was on it.

Maybe its a conspiracy, the French dont like it when Americans are taking over their sport

their sport or their event? As for that quip Yanks(in so many sports) are the new kings of doping :)

They are making the Chinese and former East germans look like pansies in this regard.

Thanks and Explanation?

Thanks for the link Boffo. Computer challenged here....

I heard on the news (680) that there is some thought that he was on some meds for his hip problems (he requires hip replacement surgery, scheduled for August) that may have elevated his testosterone. Note the use of the word may.

Cycling is full of it. Europeans as well as anyone else. David Millar of Scotland one prime example plus a whole bunch who weren't allowed to start (Ullrich etc.).:(

you obviously missed the point. I am speaking of a wide range of sport. How many Euros you see taking steroids in T&F compared to Americans? Lest we forget the baseball etc etc

In case you didnt notice East Germans were...E-u-r-o-p-e-a-n. Hence I used the to emphasize how America is even WORSE.

There are different types of steroids. Not all promote water retention. Nevertheless, sports is full of cheaters form all backgrounds. No country is innocent. All cheaters should be immediately from the sport they participate in for at least 5 years. They should also lose previous awards, prize money, etc previously awarded to them.

Cycling has been known for excessive doping since the 1950's.

A broader observation.

Have you ever heard of someone who got caught and actually admitted they're guilty. Every single one has a story. No one is ever man (or woman) enough just to take what's coming to them. Same with a guy like Pete Rose and his gambling. Deny, deny, deny until you're backed into a corner. Slimeballs all.

wow, Landis is getting so much support from the media with so many excuses(reasons) for him testing positive. The same media that seeks to devour Bonds is apparently defending Landis.

This world is something I tell you.

Yes, Dwayne Chambers the English sprinter. He admitted using drugs over 2 years. Lost all his medals and prize money. Also David Millar, the Scots cyclist banned for 2 years. Not many I admit.

I used to run for Jamaica at junior level starting at the Miami Classic as a sprinter for a Prep school(age 9) all the way up to age 15. I also know MANY OF THESE ATHLETES PERSONALLY (just like I know Miss World 1993 personally-lol) having gone to high school with them and competed against them. A few like Maurice Wignall, Gillian Russell, Dwight "Bigga" Thomas and Michael Frater(who just got silver at the last World Champs) etc etc etc

Does that answer you question SIR?????????

PS: Its everywhere but mostly in America and no I haven't taken it before. Why would and should I? The same Americans that we beat at junior level are rampant at senior level? I remember when Nikole Mitchell used to WHIP Marion Jones on a regular. Its not only the drugs though(not speaking of marion in particular) but its also the messed up programs these university/college coaches give us when we get track scholarships to run in the USA running us into the ground but thats a whole different show.

PPS: Dwight Thomas is in the same camp as Mr Justin Gatlin of USA who just tested.........

if you guessed positive, then you guessed right. Oh, he didnt just test positive but the Americans managed to keep this one quiet for sometime. And this isnt about his 2001 positive test. This is the 2006 one. The one in April. Yep, it was hush hush for a few months now. Now Trevor Graham (a former Oly silver medalist Jamaican runner now a coach to the top Americans-Gatlin,Tim,Marion) who I have met is claiming someone sabotaged poor old Justin Gatlin. Ok then. He just made an appearance on TVJ(A Jamaican station) ranting.

Stay tuned to see how this plays out.

Oh, in case you missed it....YES..I have run at the highest (junior) level and my contemporaries win medals.

Have a nice day!

I use to compete in track in the early 70's at the national level, was not in the top elite group because I didn't take anything, I was totally clean. Others broke national records and were taking enhancements.

A good friend of mine got a track scholarship to the University of Wyoming, he lasted one year and quit. Too much pressure to be the best and the only way to be the best was to be on a program of taking stimulants of some sort. Today this has become both a science and an art in taking steriods. Athletes in all sports and all over the world take them, but the US are the leaders IMO and masters in developing new product enhancements and also in masking them from testing.

Here is the deal.

Landis used "T" to mask the real substance used to put on the awesome performance in stage 17.

His handlers know that the test for Testosterone is very weak, and can be argued.

He is going to come forward with this top Spanish Dr who will absolutely dispute the testosterone test. Dick Pound will be very upset.

Landis will keep the title, and the spectating world will never know the truth.

...that an island of a few million just isn't as likely to produce as many top athletes as a country of 300 million, huh? Had to be cheating....

As best I understand - no one has yet to prove that Marion Jones has failed a drug test anywhere, ever. Which puts her on par (presumably) with your friend. But clearly Marion must be on drug, but there was time...years ago...when your friend beat her. Right.

I'm not saying that many T&F athletes are not on drugs - clearly many are. I am saying you just slagged a bunch of people with no edvidence other than "they beat us". Which really is a losers mindset.

Oh...BTW...this...

"but its also the messed up programs these university/college coaches give us when we get track scholarships to run in the USA running us into the ground but thats a whole different show."

...is the worse whining I have ever heard from an athlete before (and yes, I was one at one time - football, NCAA D-I). Same training programs that made some champions "messed up" you and your comtempories. Right...
