La Villa Spa - neighbours cameras??

Went to La Villa Spa today. When parked in the back I saw a camera faced at the parking lot! And then a sign on garage saying “Smile youre on camera”

has anyone else noticed that? And how long has it been there? Also anyone ask what’s up with that?

What's the problem? It's probably there to deter crime.
There are cameras everywhere but for some people they have to be explicitly told.
Like people posting an alarm notice on their window or beware of dogs.

Yep, nothing to worry about there. It’s there to deter crime not spy on people or anything. You can take a chill pill knowing that they are concerned for everyone’s safety and not spying on you or anything. I have been to many places with monitoring camera within Oshawa. I’ll admit at first I was apprehensive but eventually I understood it’s a safety thing it’s not there to expose me or anything. Nothing to worry about move along...

It is unlawful to point cameras at another property for home security. It should be pointed at there own property but can capture portions of other properties. Lavilla has there own cameras point at there own property. The evidence would not be submissable. If lavilla chose to pursue this. They would have to remove it but given the nature of business im sure laville doesn't mind the extra security.

Probably just there to make sure that LaVilla patrons don't do anything stupid like throw cigarette butts over the fence.
I wouldn't worry about it. Just have a good time.

Update. I asked the front desk girl about it. She said the neighbour isn’t happy with La Villas business next door. And cops have been called. She stated that cops said they can’t do anything to La Villa and La Villa owner was going to get a peace bond so the neighbour has to stop harassing them. The lady next door doesn’t like the business she’s next too and tried to have them shut down. Also as a previous poster stated. It is definitely illegal to have a camera pointed directly at a neighbours property so I’m surprised she’s getting away with that.

Yeah they can do whatever they feel like but might face the consequences

Neighbour should have done done her homework before buying the house next door.
The spa was there long before she moved in. That's the importance of due diligence when buying a house.
She probably bought it just because it was cheap. Not that many people would buy a house on that tiny street.

Well Mates. Not only is the camera there but I was going for a rub and another house down from la villa I noticed the person in her front yard started to point at my car and was clapping! So I’m out. Forget it. I’m married and want to stay like that Mates. Not worth the risk.

What I cannot understand is that just South of that street is a heavy industrialized area with the former GM plants and other small businesses located nearby.
Could they not have leased or bought one of those offices in that area and conducted the business from there? After all they have just two ladies working on any single shift.
Just 3 rooms with attached washrooms / showers is all they needed to set up their business.

What did you think she was going to do? She can't get your information from your license plate. Even if she has access to the database, it's illegal to access it without a legal reason.

The guy above is right. It’s definitely not worth the extra risk specially if you’re married. What if the crazy neighbours posts it online or on facebook. Things go viral in a sec. Im out too.
