Watching the NJ/Leafs game, and Kaberle just got hammered. He's been down for about 3 mins.Looked like he might have went head first after taking a border line dirty hit about 3 feet from the boards.

They're taking him off in a stretecher as I type this. Hopefully he's ok.

Dirty Hit?

Kaberle's teammates obviously didn't think so immediately following the hit...

Not 1 Leafs player stuck up for their #1 Defenceman

that is just lame.

I tell you, this leafs team just keeps giving us more and more reasons why they don't belong in the post season.

I agree. What a bunch of sissies. They probably couldn't see it from the bench, but I somebody would of let them know from upstairs. If Tucker was there, he would of done something -and he's a little guy.

You can't let shit like that happen.

Although the Leafs just tied and went ahead of the Devils, I'm not sure I like this team anymore. No guts, no glory if you are a wuss.

It was clearly a late hit from Cam Janssen to the head of Kaberle. Were the referees blind not seeing that??? The NHL needs to have a better definition of legal and illegal hits. If Colin Campbell does not do anything this time, he should quit as the top disciplinarian of NHL. Sad to see the Leafs had no team spirit coming to the aid of their fallen comrade. Well at least they picked up two valuable points in the playoff race.

oh, i'm not debating that it wasn't a cheap shot- it clearly was.

but, rather, i am pointing out the fact that the players on the leafs iced for tonight's game did not take issues AT ALL with the hit- clean or not! that is pathetic- especially when it's your #1 Dman.

Kaberle deserves better after all he's given to the leafs.

If the game was out of reach or the Leafs had no hope of making the playoffs, there would have been immediate retribution.
All of the Leafs and their fans would have loved to see it but they showed a lot of strength and discipline to wait for the right time and place.

when is the right time and place...? Kaberle is gone for '07 now and they play NJ once on the 20th (probably an even more important game than this, no?)

Discipline doesn't mean you can't stick up for your #1 Dman!

still working at getting on the top line i see! lol...

anyways, from NHL.com here is there interpretation:

the hit technically was clean. Janssen's hit was within the 3 second rule the NHL has that dictates a hit is not interference. The hit was all shoulder in the way a Scott Stevens or a Dion Phaneuf would lay out people. Likewise, his feet did not leave the ice until after the impact, which is simple physics. So, his hit was neither late, nor an elbow, nor charging as some have argued.

Screw NHL.com...

..unless you made that up Pro ( too lazy to look at this hr) . That hit was not only late,it ws an elbow to the head..and he attempted to leave his feet when delivering the check...enough of the head shots already..the league needs to send a message....10 games minimum for this goon...

Never mind their number 1 D-man, Kaberle is the best Leaf period. I'm not surprised no one stepped up to bat for him, this is not a step up team.

They lucked out on a Hal Gill flutterer and couldn't even hold the lead after that. I heard that 3-3 goal on the radio. Last thing I heard before 'Brylin scores!' was 'McCabe turns to shoot the puck and fails to clear'. Naturally.

They took stupid penalties all game. It's not as if we needed these two points. Aside from the Colaicovo goal which was a beaut, the only bright spot was Perreault's undressing of Brodeur. Heck, even the last save by Raycroft he looked over his right shoulder when it went to the left. It was almost mocking as if to say "I don't know what the fuck is going on, and you still couldn't score on me!"

Everything aside this was a big win. Two points back with two games in hand holds us the current favourites for that 8th spot.

To all the die-hard Sundin fans... do you know he's 45th in NHL scoring? So half the teams in the NHL have two guys who put more points on the board than our beloved Sundin. Usually being one of the few good players on a team helps you pad that stats. I guess that's the difference between guys with trophies and guys who get traded just before their former team wins the cup. Go ahead and tell me about his gold medal. I'll try to pretend Lidstrom, Forsberg, Naslund and Alfredson had nothing to do with it.

Absolutely correct.

When I played industrial league hockey, a hit like that wouldn't go unanswered. The fact not one teammate retaliated against this dirty hit is the reason the leafs will not make the playoffs.

There is no leadership on this team. It cannot be found in the head office, behind the bench or on the ice. IMO, doing nothing after a hit like that, is more telling of this teams spirit than losing 10 in a row.

Leaf fans should wake up. Toronto should wake up. Stop supporting a team that has no spirit and considers it's fans nothing more than a meal ticket.

This is the job of a captain. Even if Sundin got his clocked cleaned, I would respect him more than if he did nothing, like he chose to do.

Can you think of any other Leaf captain in the teams history that would let this go unanswered? I can't.

So let me get this straight .. You want your best offensive player to get a thrown out of the game or get a dumb penalty just to retaliate ... Oh by the
way the way did you know the coach didn't ice the player after that incident ..

Because you talk about hockey, you think you're an expert. If you ever played the game, you would understand.

Retalliating against a dirty hit is not a dumb penalty. It's the kind of action that wins hockey games and Stanley Cups.

Thats why we pay unskilled hockey players stupid money ie The Tie Domi's of the world ... Who said I am a expert ... Experts get paid for their opinion .. Terb is a fourm to state your views ... So Sundin does something and hurts his hand ?? Then what ... I think this team since Quinn gave up his GM post has lacked team tuffness ...
Any time Bobby Orr laced up the skates, he was the best player on the ice. I have no doubt that Orr would have been feeding Jenssan the knuckles had this happened to his teammate.

If you wear a "C" on your jersey, you should be prepared to stand up for your teammates whether or not you are the most skilled on the team. If you're not prepared to do this, pass on the "C".

Your fighting for a playoff spot ... Moral victories like we got them back don't show up and the standings.
Wrong. They do show up in the standings and are showing up now by the fact the Leafs are in 10th place. Hockey victories come from heart more than skill. Unfortunately for Toronto fans, the Leafs are short on both.
