Never mind their number 1 D-man, Kaberle is the best Leaf period. I'm not surprised no one stepped up to bat for him, this is not a step up team.
They lucked out on a Hal Gill flutterer and couldn't even hold the lead after that. I heard that 3-3 goal on the radio. Last thing I heard before 'Brylin scores!' was 'McCabe turns to shoot the puck and fails to clear'. Naturally.
They took stupid penalties all game. It's not as if we needed these two points. Aside from the Colaicovo goal which was a beaut, the only bright spot was Perreault's undressing of Brodeur. Heck, even the last save by Raycroft he looked over his right shoulder when it went to the left. It was almost mocking as if to say "I don't know what the fuck is going on, and you still couldn't score on me!"
Everything aside this was a big win. Two points back with two games in hand holds us the current favourites for that 8th spot.
To all the die-hard Sundin fans... do you know he's 45th in NHL scoring? So half the teams in the NHL have two guys who put more points on the board than our beloved Sundin. Usually being one of the few good players on a team helps you pad that stats. I guess that's the difference between guys with trophies and guys who get traded just before their former team wins the cup. Go ahead and tell me about his gold medal. I'll try to pretend Lidstrom, Forsberg, Naslund and Alfredson had nothing to do with it.
