John Mayall, dead at 90

John Mayall, passed away today of undisclosed causes.

He was one of the fathers of British blues, and had a knack for finding amazing blues guitar talent, such as Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor.

One of my all time favourites, found a live concert album in a bargain bin in a record store for $2.00 when I was in high school and been hooked ever since. Must have 50 Mayall songs on my playlist and still listen to that live album monthly at the least.

Long life! RIP. From a bio I read years ago. I suppose I could re check, but he started playing guitar while serving with the British army during the Korean war. Long life indeed.

1991 i am in Jasper Alberta. First day on the job at a Hotel. 15 minutes after entering my staff room my new roommate makes me listen to John Mayall. I flipped. 3 hours later we are at the bar at neighbour hotel. We meet 2 girl that were from Quebec city. My new friend manage to convince the dj to play Room to move. After the song we venture out of the hotel bar and plunged in the hotel pool We listened to more Mayall back in the room, all wet. Fell asleep anc next we were all fired haha. I moved to Banff. Never heard of the guy and these 2 girl again but Mayall became a singer i listened all my life up to this day.

Looking through the stacks in a record store (Sam's was the best) was the best way to find music. You discovered so much more than by having to know the name of an artist to search. You discovered stuff that you didn't know existed. Hmmm. This looks interesting. Let's give it a try for $2.99

I didn't know who this was until his name started popping up all over the YT videos I was watching. He played with so many musicians over the years and was still doing what he loved right up to his death. Amazing life.
