How was frank Thomas being disruptive in chicago? Do you have facts like links or articles from chicago to support your claim , the only thing that came out of chicago was Kenny Williams calling him an idiot and he retaliated...Thomas signed with Jays since he wants to win the world series and it's the only thing he hasn't accomlish
It is a commonly held belief, Kenny Williams' comments aside, that Thomas could be disruptive in the clubhouse. Don't know if that was a function of his personal problems or just personality, but that was the reputation.
As for the ring, Thomas has one with the Sox in 2005.
Personally, as a big Frank Thomas fan since his rookie season, I love the fact that he signed. IF he stays healthy he'll be a definite plus in the line up. How he acts in the clubhouse, who knows but it looks like all was well in Oakland. I'm a little leery though on spending $10mil on him, but I guess it depends on who else was trying to get him. If JP really wanted him (like he wanted Burnett last off season) and there was a bidding war, then you have to do what you have to do in order to get your guy.
Fact of a matter is, you could spend $10mil on a DH coming off a career reviving year but who has been plagued with ankle problems in the two years previous, or you could spend it on a shortstop who would be a marginal improvement over who we have now (Lugo vs MacDonald), or you could spend a little less (approx $8mil) and get a .500 pitcher who, at best, is your number 4 starter (Lily). No matter what, JP's going to get shit on
