I can't wait for Captain Kirk's return, he reminds me of Devon White running the bases.Getting Capn Kirk back in this lineup could be the turning point in this Jays season. Still could use another power hitter but man have the jays ever missed Kirks bat.
I think Vladdy comes alive in June July August. He was awesome in playoffs tooI would love to be a fly on the wall and listen to how ownership really feels about committing all of that money to Guerrero. His feet drive me crazy with the toe tap and all of that nonsense… It seems like all you have to do is mix it up and you get him out. At this point, I would be surprised if he even gets to 15 home runs for the year. They should just send him down to reconstruct his entire stance. Get him leaning back more to create more of a home run trajectory. Send him down… Why not anything has to be better than this.
Philip
I agree, but it would be nice if he showed up for work on time.I think Vladdy comes alive in June July August. He was awesome in playoffs too
I had money on the Jays to win and the under 7.5...Why would you close with that disaster of a closer!Hoffman or Schneider????
yup and guess who? There are no leverage situations that are low enough for HoffmanWow!!!! Major bullpen meltdown.
Today's appearance was a low leverage situation irrespective of the inning, and he failed badly.....againHoffman has been pretty stellar when pitching in the 7th and 8th. It's clear he has a mental block of some sort when he is the last guy, with no other pitcher (or inning) to protect him.
Manager has to keep Hoffman in areas that he can succeed. There are many relievers that can be as effective in all leverage including closing. Rogers and Fisher might be those guys if you want to bring in Varland in the 8th. But not Hoffman.
Releasing him and paying $20M doesn't make sense when there is a role he has been OK in., But keep him in that damn role.
Varland pitched the 8th (and Rogers the 7th)Wondered why he did not get Varland ready during the meltdown
Yes tomorrow is a bullpen day but you got to win today. I can see avoiding the use of Varland but not when Hoffman melts. Hoffmam is a middle inning reliever against the bottom of order. The announcers never tell you what they really think but the truth is Hoffman has lost it. One good inning against bottom of order means nothing.
Varland pitched the 8th (and Rogers the 7th)
It was 2-1 in top of 8th, and 2-3-4 were coming up for the Orioles. Their thought was bring in Varland for the toughest guys, so they warmed him up and brought him in the 8th.
Technically low leverage, yes.Today's appearance was a low leverage situation irrespective of the inning, and he failed badly.....again
