Didn't think Corbin would be so important to this team. He has not been great, but he has been steady and they need that steadiness, given the Lauer, Scherzer, Berrios, Ponce, Bieber issues.

What did everyone expect? Last yar was a career year for Springer, Barger, Kirk, Vlad and others

I think it had to do with chemistry everyone plays well and it becomes contagious and intimidating

It is still possible if Barger brings a good bat and Vad hits homers and Springer has one last good year that will spread then kirk gets back

Pitching is not the problem when this team is hitting like they did last year as they can outscore anyone

Right now RISP is the big issue last year they were at the top this year they are at the bottom

Looks like another year where the trading deadline means do we sell or buy? Gausman will be highly sought after

It's going to be a long time before the Blue Jays will have a decent pick in the July Draft.

2026 Major League Baseball Draft

This year they won't have a pick in the first 100 selections. They have a double whammy for exceeding the Luxury Tax limit for two consecutive seasons, and they forfeited their 2nd round pick when they signed Dylan Cease.

The Jays already have $216 Million of 2027 salary commitments:

MLB Team Multi-Year Cap Tracker

with Springer, Bieber and Varsho on expiring contracts in 2026. I can't see them exercising the $8 Million club option on Myles Straw, and I can't see Berrios opting out of $24 Million guaranteed. There isn't any 'Show ready' surplus talent in the high minors which could be used to improve the team at the deadline.

If the Jays are a second division team for the next ten years, we should all blame Philip, who was so adamant about signing Santander and re-signing Vlad Jr. at a ridiculous cost for a first baseman. They won't be able to move Andres Gimenez at $23.5 Million guaranteed for each of 2027-29 unless they eat a big chunk of his cost, while two of their top ten prospects are shortstops.

Look out for those Athletics, who have a pick at #8 this year. They're currently $140 Million below the cap, which they'll start to spend on pitching when they get to Las Vegas in 2028.

The positives are Okamoto seems like a real slugger with solid defense. After he got adjusted to MLB he has been one of the best sluggers in MLB. and Pinango has been a pleasant surprise. We got him for Nate Pearson. Varland is a top reliever and should make all star team if he keeps this up.

I have not given up on this years team if they get chemistry back from last year. Kirk is arguably the teams MVP his injury set the team back. His backups cannot hit getting no offence from catching is a big hole in the lineup

Can Barger come back swinging ? I would think he will need some time as they have rushed him. Interesting who they send back to make room for him

I suspect Schneider will go as Pinango is sugging 860

They gotta try top stay around .500 by the all-star break, and then hopefully get hot 2nd half of the season

They did that last year but 2 years in a row ?

One key to last year was the bottom of the lineup scoring so many runs and setting up the top of the lineup with runners on it was a great example of small ball , running, bunting getting walks hitting behind hitter etc

The bottom of lineup does not have same dynamics this year but as Barger and Kirk get back the lineup will deepen and Okamoto adds power but Springer and Varsho are not the same and Vlad has hit two, count them two, homers and Bo is gone.

Starting pitching is not the problem nor is the bull pen but hitting with RISP is along with long ball shortage.

Jays will go into buying mode at deadline if there is a chance but what do we have to offer as our farm system is weak so we give up the future?

Why was Vlad worth all that money? Power hitting first basemen are common and he has 2, count them 2 homers

Now we see just how poor of a GM Atkins really is. Last season aside, what has this team really done under his tenure. Despite having a consistent top 10 payroll, we've toiled in mediocrity since he came on board 10 years ago.
