Agreed. I think he was instrumental in getting us as far as we did this past playoffs.
lol every interview I see him in an interview and whenever the interviewer comments on the great talent of the starting rotation or the team in general, Max Scherzer always says something like "I've been on some great teams in the past and I've been on some great starting rotations" almost as to say shut up Toronto media dont over play this, you haven't won anything. Cool your jets!

Scherzer not slow playing it… first outing of spring and he already has ramped it up to 4 innings which is much more than a normal first spring start. (And 4 shoutout innings where he threw on average 94 with some up to 96) He has full intentions of being in the rotation on opening day.

HaHa!!! This is Mad Max's way of telling the Jays coaching staff "I'm not going to make pitching rotation decisions easy for you this year".
I hope the Jays can trade for Bassitt later in the year.

His bonuses start after 65 innings pitched. I hope Shatkins don't pull a Ricciardi release him at inning 64.

Naylor family values, top prospect Owen Cassie dings.

No he won't, they need Scherzer to prevent the team from getting complacent.

.... oh God, the nightmare of JP Ricciardi... literally the nightmare. The wasted years of Roy Haliday and Carlos Delgado ... letting Delgado walk, not building a winner around him. Even though Gord Ash played a role in that as well. Drafting Vernon Wells, instead of Tulo. It goes on and on… Surprisingly, he's only 66 years old. That feels like a lifetime ago.

Ricky Romero was drafted over Tulo by guess who. It wasn't Gord Ash. J.P. thought they were set at short with Russ Adams. J.P. also let Chris Carpenter walk for nothing when they could've kept him at a low cost. Ash did pretty well with drafting. Wells Hudson Haliday and Carpenter. He also signed Roger Clemens. Now when it came to making trades he was only slightly better than Brad Treliving.

Let's also acknowledge Ash had to work under abyssmal ownership(Interbrew SA) who didn't give a shit about the Jays. Interbrew purchased Labatt's and the Blue Jays just happened to be part of the deal. Ash's whole tenure was unfortunately under Interbrew.

I was listening to Blair and Barker today on the radio, and I just learned for the first time that Jose Barrios is looking at elbow inflammation. And people were thinking how are we going to squeeze in seven starters? This is an important year for him heading into his opt out...

So you're saying injuries have hit our starting rotation already. That's why they say you can never have enough pitching.

Yeah, this came about in a very peculiar way. José Berrios feels fine he says, and while he was trying to put some kind of insurance on his arm so he can pitch for Puerto Rico, they spotted elbow inflammation.

The Depth was needed! Its actually 8 starters if we include Lauer, and Lauer will probably be part of the 5 to start the season. Bieber is probably out for April, Berrios a ??. I don't think they plan on having Yesavage on the major league roster for the first few weeks of the season either... they delayed his spring ramp up as a means of controlling his innings this year. A luxury they have due to the depth (as of now)

As for Berrios. He was never going to be opting out of the remaining 2/48 at the end of this season -- whether healthy or not, he is not worth that as a 33/34 year old. The Jays and Berrios are stuck with each other until end of 2028 - let's hope he is healthy and is somewhat effective.

Look at the contracts that starters like Merrill Kelly, Chris Bassitt, Lucas Giolito got this offseason. Nowhere near 2/48, and they were all better than Berrios last year.
