This isn't the 90's or early 2000's. Raps have one of the best front offices in the NBA and the city is amazing.

It's the players that want to chase hoes and be flashy that have an issue coming here.

And what?
He played for Toronto from 2003 thru 2010 at which time he opted to join James and Wade in Miami and played there until his health(blood clots) forced him into retirement in 2016.
Those are the only two teams he played for. As I said before he went to Miami on a sign and trade agreement. He did not go to another team and reach free agency with that team and then sign as a free agent with Toronto. For him to sign as a free agent with Toronto, Toronto would have had to sign him after his contract with Miami expired.
There have been a number of players that have extended their contracts with the Raptors by resigning once their initial contracts expired but I don't believe that fits the term "free agent signing". Remember Hedo Turkoglu? that was a free agent signing that the Raptors would love to forget!

Your missing the boat here. It's the notion that people don't want to play here. The media is always saying Toronto can't hang on to the star players and always put Chris Bosh and V.C in that group. Both these guys resigned with Toronto. That's the point.

V.C didn't leave, he was traded.
Yes he was! Apparently he became disillusioned with the direction of the team and asked to be traded. His quality of play had also gone down( probably due to a lack of effort on Carter's part) and they got nothing for him including Alonzo Mourning who refused to report.
Carter did not leave because he didn't like the city, that I will concede. From what I have read he wanted to end his playing days here and tried to negotiate a contract here, this year. before signing with the Hawks.

The raps fired Glen Grunwald and replaced him with Rob Babcock.

Babcock and Vince never got along. Everything behind the scene went downhill from there. Even fought then Head Coach Sam Mitchell in the locker room.

WOW I had heard he slammed Mitchell but not from anyone that was there, so until now in my mind, it was rumour. Awesome post, thanks!

As a side note, watched Zion play against the Jazz. Never been a huge Zion fanboy but he made men (including Gobert) look like kids.

Yeah, there were a number of things happening behind the scene. No more special treatment, Vince is a momma's boy and they were giving his mother a hard time (or maybe it was the other way around lol), Vince wanted DR. J to be the GM, Drafting Araujo. The Past is the Past. Outside of the weather, Toronto is a great Organization to play for.

Things are changing in the NBA. The usual big cities are not the draw they once were and the increase in foreign player means more guys that don't give a shit where they play.

The current NBA is all about ring chasing and the market doesn't dictate were the ring will go.

Once the ring has been achieved then you will see guys cash out like LeBron, Kawhi and KD.
All 3 have multiple rings....so now what?

Started watching yesterday's game in the second quarter, OMG, that deep bench was awful. If that group were playing for jobs, maybe the 905.

and kept Kawhi in San Antonio until his injury.

This isn't true. Everyone knew for a long time he wanted to go back home and play. He just wasn't discussed because he was under contract. There's been rumblings he's been talking about going home since he became relevant.

No, it is true. Kawhi signed an extension in 2015. If he wanted to go home, he could have at that point.

It was after the injury he requested a trade.

That is how I remember it too. Kawhi was being pressured to play and he didn't feel healthy enough to play and the medical advice he was getting, which differed from that of the Spur's staff, was advising him not to play. The coaching staff and some of the players, Tony Parker for one, were openly critical of Kawhi.

These guys are not the future, so now you target the younger guys.

Having a strong team is what brought Lebron to Miami, KD to Golden State, and kept Kawhi in San Antonio until his injury.
South Beach and Silicon Valley are hot properties. Kawhi always wanted to play in LA and wasn't spoken of in the same circles as LeBron and KD until recently. They all have rings, now they want to play with the lifestyle they want.
