The Raptors just gave Kyle Lowry a US$31 Million extension for 20-21. So he is locked down for 2 years solid. Smart move, that

Really??? Because I think the opposite. Why tie up 31 million in cap space on a guy who's on the decline, on a team that your not sure where it will be in two years?

Unless he's just patch until they go after the Greek Freak in 21-22.

Watched parts of the game from Japan this morning. Raps won but you really couldn't take much from that. Both teams were deep into the bench at the end. Thought OG and Powell looked ready as did Ibaka and Freddy. No Lowery or Gasol. Boucher still a stick but played well. Think Wonky is right he won't fill out. Be interesting to see who they keep and who goes to 905 and who is released.

I think its worth the extra year, and solidifying a player that will get his jersey retired in Toronto. One more year gives him more time to pad the Canadian All Star Hall of Fame stat line.

By the way....I saw some of the Japan game over breakfast, and happily spotted Boucher with some extra muscle mass on him. He's not Lebron, but he's definitely added some strength.

I like the signing of Lowery too, it ain't my money, and Lowery brings a lot to the table, leadership and veteran maturity, he works with and tutors the young guys and he can still play! Who was the guy that came out kicking ass and taking names at the start of games 6? As for the Greek freak, barring injury, he will pretty much go wherever he wants when he becomes a UFA, unless he and Masai are buddies I doubt he signs here, of course, I never envisioned Kawai landing here either.

No it’s not your money, but it’s money that goes against the cap. As for leadership, this is the same guy who publicly sulked and critized management for trading a player that got him a championship. Hardly leadership skills

Overpaid for Lowry, but as usual he'll fills the pg gap we have, so I understand.

2021 will be wild because of all the free agents and the cash we will be able to spend. Hopefully we can land 2 stars.

Until then we twiddle our thumbs.

But they need to start the rebuild now. The middle is never good place to be, and signing KL to another year helps us stay in in the middle.

Raptors have not had much success signing free agents, they have to draft and/or trade in order to be successful.

There's a misconception when it comes to this.

Both VC and Chris Bosh actually resigned with Toronto. VC wanted out because the team started to play bad, and Chris Bosh left during his URFA year (as opposed to his RFA year when he resigned) because him Lebron and Wade had already make an agreement to all the play together in Miami with Wade.

In the case of Leonard, everyone on the planet knew his intentions were to somehow play in LA a year before he even got here.

So yes we've lost stars, but of it was circumstantial as opposed to the misconception that they don't want to play in Toronto.

Really the 3 bad ones were Damon Staudamire, Tracy McGrady, and Alonzo Mourning refusing to come here.

So what free agents have the Raptors signed that were better than ordinary? Had Kawai stayed there probably would have been a few ring chasers interested. For whatever reason the players. particularly the Americans, don't seem to want to come here. Bosh signed on a sign and trade agreement. Never fully understood the entire thing with Carter. Did he or didn't he ask to be traded? Have heard both and have no idea what the truth is.

No need to rebuild. Just add a superstar from the 2021 free agency pool.

If we want to compete for another championship, there is nothing we can do for the next 2 seasons.

Raps have proven themselves to be top class. We can land a big one.

Giannis and Masai are both Nigerian and are very close. Plus Toronto>Milwaukee in every way.

My fantasy is to land Gorbert too.

I think Spicy P needs another year of seasoning so having a pg who can get things done will help in his development. My big question for the year is what Masai will do at the trade deadline with the expiring contracts vs. trying to make a run to the Eastern final (which is a distant possibility).

And what?
He played for Toronto from 2003 thru 2010 at which time he opted to join James and Wade in Miami and played there until his health(blood clots) forced him into retirement in 2016.
Those are the only two teams he played for. As I said before he went to Miami on a sign and trade agreement. He did not go to another team and reach free agency with that team and then sign as a free agent with Toronto. For him to sign as a free agent with Toronto, Toronto would have had to sign him after his contract with Miami expired.
There have been a number of players that have extended their contracts with the Raptors by resigning once their initial contracts expired but I don't believe that fits the term "free agent signing". Remember Hedo Turkoglu? that was a free agent signing that the Raptors would love to forget!
