The new variant just in time for Christmas
Yes, because there are still millions of people in the developing world who haven't had the chance to get vaccinated. The virus will mutate if we let it go unchecked. That's just the way most disease work, some mutate significantly faster.
But, as others have said, unvaccinated people in Ontario are the majority of those who are catching the virus. And on top of that, they have a higher chance of being hospitalized or even dying due to covid then those who catch it after getting the shot.
You tell us to turn "of" the TV. Maybe you should stop watching fringe YouTube channels that don't know what the fuck they're talking about. I mean, something like 96% of doctors have taken the shot, the other 4%? I sure as fuck wouldn't want to be their patient. I seriously don't understand how people like you, who for the most part seem intelligent, would want to fuck around and find out with this thing. The people that survive a bad case are not the same afterwards. Even those who have had mild cases can still get the long-haul covid. I remember reading about a Ryerson student that was asymptomatic, yet got long-haul.
The point is this: the vaccine isn't perfect. But it does work. Those with the shot are less likely to catch or spread the disease, and significantly less likely to have bad outcomes (hospitalization or death). While a lot of anti-vaxxers say we don't know what it'll do to us in, say 10 years, I guess my questions is, we don't know how covid will impact people in 10 years. Will they have life-long lung or other vital organ issues? Kidney problems, diabetes? Brain damage? This disease is systemic. It seems to cause damage throughout the body.
You want to gamble, be my guest. But remember, professional gamblers are experts in risk mitigation. They will do anything they can to protect themselves when taking a risk. So, if you aren't willing to bet on the vaccine, at least wear a mask and be socially distant.
