If you're on such good terms, why not just ask the guy?
Typical Basketcase type of reply, ignore him.As previously mentioned, his English is not good enough to properly explain why he could not accept the donation.

I asked because silver candlestick holders among the Jewish possessions would be(most likely) Shabbat candlestick holders with a significant religious meaning attached to them. Little wonder a Muslim guy didn't want them in his possession, especially if he was religious.I don't know about the mark, I only had the candlestick holders for a few days, four years ago. The woman had been the wife of a Jewish doctor who was also a Holocaust survivor. Even as a preteen, he was skilled at repairing machines, so he was worth more to the Nazis alive than dead.
That's not it.They were meant to be donated to a charity. The guy in the store didn't know anything about the woman. He just gave my phone number to someone, who gave it to the truck driver, who called me to say 'Take anything you want, and anything you leave behind will go to the dump'.I asked because silver candlestick holders among the Jewish possessions would be(most likely) Shabbat candlestick holders with a significant religious meaning attached to them. You can try to donate a crucifix to a religious Jewish store owner and no one regard charity higher than us. Unless that crucifix was owned by the Pope or JFK, you will be politely turned down. Religions have a way of introducing nuance into simple situations. That's not it. they were meant to be donated to a charity. Islam highly regards charitable acts, provided that they are done anonymously. Making a public showing of your generosity is frowned upon.
I don't care, and I don't want to post in this thread anymore. I wanted an answer to a specific question from someone on this board who knows, if such a person exists. Speculations by people who don't know the answer, but are trying to be helpful, are of no practical use to me.You can try to donate a crucifix to a religious Jewish store owner and no one regard charity higher than us.
