Yup Ireland is pretty much united with Northern Ireland at this point, with a border to Britain. The loyalists are uneasy.

Theres always trouble bubbling and it doesn’t take much for it to be manipulated.

It really flared up after a large number of Republican politicians attended a funeral breaking COVID rules during the pandemic. The same politicians who enforce lock downs in loyalist working class areas, many still under the influence of paramilitary gangs. There was an announcement by prosecutors last week that nothing will be done and it’s seen as preferential treatment. Also, there are lots of political gangs waiting in the wings for the slightest spark to stir up these teenagers who were not around during the troubles.

I don’t think the brexit situation is helping either.

Unfortunately, the Irish are living up to the stereotype I was brought up with in Birmingham UK. It’s very different to the North American stereotype of the Irish as lovable happy, singing, dancing folk.

A side effect of Brexit and the border with Ireland and the North ..... lots of bad blood and a history of violence in this small Island unfortunately .... hope that the fighting and disorder will end soon

My family in North America better fit the drinking and fighting stereotype.
