Fascinating article on Isaac Hayes in The New Yorker, he was the Phil Spector of soul music.

I didn't know that he wrote the Sam and Dave hits Soul Man and Hold On, I'm coming. The article asks why there's no biography of him.

Perhaps it was because his later life was so shambolic. He fell in with Scientology, they took his money and took him off his heart medication. He died of a stroke in 2008. His children are fighting to recover his estate but it may be a lost cause.

He was a decent actor as well, having a regular gig on The Rockford Files and appearing in Escape From New York.

IV, he was a prolific song writer in partnership with David Porter...……..I never was a big fan of stuff he himself recorded......but his genius was writing hit song after hit song for the Stax label......thanks for the link

I loved Baby Driver, one of Edgar Wright's (Shaun of the Dead) best films. Lilly James had that girl next door sexiness workin. I don't recall the song.

Is this it?

And I think he voiced the Chef character in South Park.

That's where his troubles began, he quit the show over the writers ridiculing Tommasina Cruise and Scientology. His death was preventable.

He was very good in The Rockford Files, at one time the most popular show in Italy. I remember watching it during mezzogiorno.

Issac Hayes the theme from Shaft
That music never gets old, Dennis Graham on drums. Graham's son also did something.

If you need anymore convincing that Drake is an international superstar, look at this lineup - Nick Kroll makes an ass of himself.

Later to be known as "David Gates and Bread".
Brings back memories of Grade 8 English class. She was tall leggy with the perfect apple ass, short hair and dimples. None of the guys ever missed her class. She was also the girls phys ed teacher, we did our best to not gawk when she ran by...she knew what was happening.

It is ironic that Issac Hayes left South Park after the Scientology episode. Try Parker and Matt Stone gave Issac Hayes a great sendoff though.
