Some thoughts.
I hate the name iPad. Oh well, such is life. Just like the Wii, people will forget about it in six months.
No multitasking? Bummer. I understand the reasoning on the iPhone but that 10" screen is capable of displaying more than one application at a time.
The value proposition for the Kindle DX just got destroyed. $489 for a Kindle DX or $499 for a 16GB iPad? The Kindle 2 I think is still a solid device.
It's the software. People want to consume media. The Kindle proves this. The iPhone proves this. Apple has the customer base (125 million customers with credit cards registered), the platform (iTunes Store) and the leverage to get deals done with old media.
Apple didn't spend one cent on CES. Yet between then and today, they had the media freely promote the iPad.
It hits the sweet spot for people who are looking for something more than a cheap netbook.
