Internet Disconnect Problem?

Every night around 8:30 pm my internet hangs and I have to reboot my modem. I have cable internet and WIFI that connects to my TV.

I usually notice when I'm watching a movie on Netflix or on my Xbox when I get disconnected, that's why I know it's always the same time of the evening.

Since daylight savings last week, the disconnect is now happening at 7:30 so I'm sure it has something to do with the time.

I checked my anti-virus and I have nothing scheduled at that time.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

A few things to check out before contacting your ISP.

-> If you have the following set up: PC -> Wifi Router -> Cable Modem

I would log into the wifi router to check the dhcp logs. If the modem is going offline during that time you should see attempts from your wifi router to renew its dhcp lease.

-> If you're on PPP (Bell internet) check the logs for re-login attempts to ensure the modem is the issue.

-> If you have another computer check to see if that goes offline as well to ensure your computer isn't the issue.

-> Try connecting your PC to the router with an ethernet cable to ensure wifi isn't the issue.

Basically eliminate the possibility that your hardware is the issue. From the sounds of it, it's the ISP's issue.
