I just went through the thread regarding removal of terbites from this board or the chat room and am too late to be in on the action.

That having been said I still would like to make a comment.

Let me relate to you a situation that I just experienced.

I am at a game; it does not matter what it is. There is a confrontation between two players. No bad language is used BUT tremendous negative insinuation. Very passive aggressive but you could cut the tension with a knife. The atmosphere is poisionous and acidic. Although no swearing took place and, technically, you could not fault either player, the situation quickly degraded into a fist fight.

Say what you want but it is extremely dangerous and destructive to hurt poeple's feelings and make ad hominem attacks. Murders are made of these ingredients every year in every jurisdiction. So what if you and your ego think it is fun and easy to put down someoneelse. This does not justify anything, least of all your bad behaviour. Express your opinion for sure but you need not brutalize another human being. We have lots of terrorizm going on around the world that comes from this type of thinking; there is no need for more.

What wever happened to being compassionate with your fellow human, even if you do disagree with him or her?

That sounds cool. I never heard it before. What does it mean? Can I use it in Scrabble?
I think he meant Homonym, but I am sure you already knew that! :p

If you were playing scrabble with him you could use it!

Yes I am sorry you are right Lickman.

I didn't think to look it up in the dictionary as one word, so I looked under H!

DUH!

Thanks for that excellent definition Lickman. You DO learn something new every day. I'm going to see if I can use it in a sentence today.

Re: Ad Hominem

First, an attack against the character of person making the claim, her circumstances, or
her actions is made (or the character, circumstances, or actions of the person reporting the claim). Second, this attack is taken to be evidence against the claim or argument the person in question is making (or presenting). This type of "argument" has the following form:

1.Person A makes claim X.
2.Person B makes an attack on person A.
3.Therefore A's claim is false.

The reason why an Ad Hominem (of any kind) is a fallacy is that the character, circumstances, or actions of a person do not (in most cases) have a bearing on the truth or falsity of the claim being made (or the quality of the argument being made).

Reminds me of how politicians operate smear campaigns.

You do learn something every day.

Well judging from the content in your own posts I wouldn't be so quick to put me down.
At least I apologize and admit it when I know I am wrong.

I will ask again, since you failed to answer me the last time I asked...... What useful information have YOU contributed to this forum?

I suspect you didn't answer this question the first time I asked because you didn't have anything to refer to. As far as I can see, you still don't.

Actually from skimming over your posts I can pretty safely assume that you are nothing but a better man with nothing better to do than come here and bitch and whine about women. Go back to jerking off, it may help relieve some of that tension, because with that attitude you certainly aren't getting laid anytime soon.

All this in the thread titled "incivility", go figure.
