Somethings you just bring to the grave.
I agree wholeheartedly about withholding this deeply personal information. Just as we married hobbyists will “take this to the grave”. White lies are underrated.

I would honestly love to open my own place one day
Life is all about change, and that takes courage. I wish you all success in getting your own place someday. Just don’t name it “Curl Up and Dye”! lol!

I personally would not divulge your experience as a sexworker to an employer.
Not because I think it is a shameful profession, but because people are willfully ignorant and judgemental.

Word travels fast, gossip happens and you could possibly find yourself blacklisted in the hairstylist community of your town.

There are ways around gaps in resumes...

That makes sense

My main concern is that they can fire me for any reason for the first few months and on my first day a man called the shop wanting to cause problems for a lady who used to work there. She quit weeks earlier but he seemed like he really wanted to drive that last nail in the coffin and cause problems. He clearly didn't know this lady well enough to know she had quit weeks prior. That phone call made me realize, that anyone can do that. Anyone that recognizes me can and will be a vindictive asshole about it.

I'm concerned that my face, my ass and my bare pussy are all over the internet and I'm going to have a hard time keeping that a secret for the probation period. After that I don't care 😂 I needed to get through the 3 months.

My apprenticeship finished before it even started. The employer was a crook looking to scam the government and get free labor out of me. She's not even eligible to take apprentices. I was rushed through the process before everything that should have been done was completed and it turns out she's not even qualified to have an apprentice and she doesn't fit the criteria for the program.

There was a huge rush for me to start work and the employer avoided all attempts to sign paperwork and provide documents she needed to provide so she got free labor out of me. It was some big dirty secret I had to keep from the other employees she doesn't pay into WSIB and that made her inelligible. There was other stuff too, i'm supposed to work underneath a qualified professional and I don't think she has any qualifications. She's just a lady that rents space to people with the skills. She's just a crook and I got scammed.

The people whose job it is to make sure she met the criteria for the program didn't do their job... but they definitely rushed me into starting right away 🙄

Welcome to the real world. You'll meet shady people and genuine good people. A lot of the time people don't do their job well or take a blind eye to what's happening. I'm sure waitresses deal with stuff like this too where some guy got annoyed because so and so didn't smile at him so the next day he calls and rants about some waitress he found appealing and she perhaps forgot in the busy moment to smile or something. It's like you being a SP and having SP friends. They probably talk smack about ya to others. A business owner who I worked with who was great sold the company and left and other few employees started talking smack about her to the new hires. I found it disgusting because I had no issues working for her. The corporate world is a lot worse and highly toxic. You need to learn to shrug it off and it's not easy because there's lots of stories of people breaking down and most end up signing NDAs. And not to be judgmental, but it's usually women who stir up gossip compared to men. I'm sure hair saloons end up gossiping about customers after they leave because they might know some stuff about the person.
