I know.
But they haven't broken any since and have built a life here.
So legally provide them a path to legal status without creating a humanitarian crisis.
People have received pardons for more serious crimes.
You're making blanket statements...You don't know has broken laws since they've been here and who hasn't.

He must have found a way thru/under/over Trump's wall when he entered Trump's MAGA USA during Trump's 2nd year in office in the year Trump 2018.
Looks like Trump deported him. Now explain how he got back in and stayed?

So when someone breaks the law, your first suggestion is to reward them?
No.
When someone comes to the US and lives there illegally for decades, builds a life and a family, my suggestion is not to destroy that person's life and livelihood and instead provide them a path to legal status.

so let's say 50 million people all guaranteed to be good citizens could come illegally and will get a path to citizenship?

If they entered legally then they would have that path, it’s not a difficult concept to understand.
Well we know that already.
But what is done is done.
Even murderers get released early from prison for good behaviour.
So a non-violent immigrant without papers, can definitely be provided a path to legal status without uppending his/her life.
It is not a difficult concept to understand.

You can give a path to citizenship for existing, long term residents who do not have papers and who do not have criminal history.
And fix your immigration laws and border security to prevent future illegal immigration.
Along with deporting criminals and recent arrivals.
I think that is fair enough.

there are tens of thousands and even more that competed with citizens on employment. a guy a knew since i was 12, lived in San Fran illegally until he got caught 12 years later...works for cash doesn't pay taxes, not all of them are criminals...but they are still a burden to the economy oppose to what the liberals / democrats claim that they are they help the economy...most of them spend their money in their native land...you want to be a US citizen,,,go to the border and apply for an immigrant status...it's the easiest way, and it filters the garbage...if you're a potential good immigrant that follows the laws, why put yourself among those who do illegal stuff to begin with?

The first time he cam over he was deported in 2018.

It's now 2024. Who is in power? Federally and in the State of NY?
My point is border security has been the same since 2018 that he was able to come back in a 2nd time.
So Trump did nothing to actually improve anything.
He was a recent arrival, got caught and was deported and the 2nd time around he learned how to get around it.

You dont know why illegal immigrants choose to become illegal immigrants.
There are many reasons.
But their reasons are not relevant.
They are undocumented regardless.
And because they are good residents otherwise, give them a path to legal status so they can pay taxes etc.,
It can even become conditional, like asking them to pay back taxes they owe etc.,
My point is there are other solutions, than creating a needless and impractical humanitarian crisis, that will get bogged down in the courts anyway wasting enormous tax payer money.
