At that time Steven Seagal was box office magic and it had gone to his head. He crashed Brandon Lee's funeral, many of those paying their respects saw it as a publicity stunt and took exception. Linda Lee was upset by his presence. Bolo faced Seagal down and challenged him to a "contest of skill" the following day. Seagal, knowing the difference between courage and stupidity, walked away. No contest ever took place.
