No Private Company wants to have to deliver Mail for a couple of bucks!!I don’t know about that, if it’s done right I think there is a lot of money that could be made from the Canada Post operation.

Once again, the 5 days is for a reduced cost. You can get a Canada Post Express delivery within 24 hours!!Are you saying only Canada Post can get it too you in 5 days? Really?
I get lots of stuff within a couple days, i.e. any amazon order.
As a taxpayer I don't mind subsidizing postal delivery. But when it starts to cost taxpayers over $500 million per year and rising we've got problems. Approximately 28 million taxpayers file an income tax return every year. Over 1/3 of those pay no federal income tax. That means about 18.5 million taxpayers are footing this loss. That works out to about $27 each if everyone paid the same amount of tax, which we know isn't reality. Unacceptable.
The union wants 19% wage increases over 4 years. Canada Post is offering 11.5%. That is in addition to COLA. The union's demands are bordering on insanity. Arbitrate and get them back to work asap.
You guys still want to make a case for the current structure of Canada Post?$129,238
Canada Post Corporation employees have an average estimated annual salary of $129,238, or $62 per hour1. Postal workers in Canada usually earn between $22.00/hour and $32.00/hour2.
I think the postal workers are making a pretty good living wage for now. For the skill level involved.
What the fuck do Corporation employees do to make them worth $129.238 a year?

I think I just stated the opposite. Can the Corporate employees. You guys still want to make a case for the current structure of Canada Post?
It's like the union is negotiating like it's 1980. Considering how much money they're bleeding, something's got to change. Which means they can't sustain the current number of employees and they need to get rid of any "jobs for life" clause. How about reducing mail delivery to two or three days a week and don't hire more employees when they retire. Just a thought.I think I just stated the opposite. Can the Corporate employees.
The 19% pay increase is pretty fucking ballsy to ask for considering the skill set required. The 11.5% seems reasonable. If you're not happy. Go to school part time for the 4 years of the contract and learn to do something more meaningful.
