^^^^ I can’t quote you @Greytop19 but I want to explain this. I mentioned the race because she was using her race to play games and lie. She used her “race card” to play those games.

Also, having personally dated men of EI decent, I’m not an idiot to who is EI when speaking to them. Also, I didn’t think it was necessary but I could describe clothing etc but I don’t get hung up on race. It is not my thing.

But for the story, the detail of race was important. She made it important with her lying.

It is called “Find my IPhone”. It comes with all Apple products or you can access it by logging into ICloud.com

That is an idea. I could ask how they make those types of recordings accessible and available to police.

I am taking responsibility for my part. I put the phone down somewhere that was not my purse. But they are culpable for their part which was stealing the phone from the conveyer belt. They saw it and scooped it. If they had left it, it would have been seen for me to grab before I left the cashier.

Just because I have responsibility in this, doesn’t mean they don’t either. They do. It is not one sided.
Hello Jenesis, how is your employee doing ? Did you arrange for his well deserved bonus ? No worries on my part on what people say in an open forum. Glad you recovered your phone. Personally I would not have gone after phone not knowing who might have answered the door. A damn phone is not risking your life.

She acted like she didn’t understand me at all, saying she didn’t understand English. She was East Indian and I couldn’t understand what she is saying.
Great job at being so resourceful in getting your phone back. A lot of times, these situations don't end up that way.

I don't care what people call me, but in my walk of life, the most-unscrupulous group of people I've come to experience tend to be the one mentioned. Not only my experience but from empirical evidence, including fraud cases, insurance scams, you name it, originate in areas/neighbourhoods with an over-indexing of that ethnicity. Anecdotally, my East Indian friends even admit to it. Some are ashamed of it, some are proud of it.

So here is the story,

I was out shopping at SuperStore. I was at the cashier and using my phone to do price matching. I must have put the phone down on the conveyer belt when I went to bag and pay for my food. I left completely not even thinking about my phone. I get home and realize it is gone. I use the Find my Phone app and it is in Brooklin. So I know it is stolen.

I go to the location, knock on the door. A woman opens the door slightly, I think there was one of those locks on the door that let you open it only a little. Anyway, she kept saying her husband wasn’t home and I had such a hard time trying to communicate with her. She acted like she didn’t understand me at all, saying she didn’t understand English. She was East Indian and I couldn’t understand what she is saying. But according to another thread, I can’t ask her to repeat herself or talk slowly because then I am a racist.

snip

But WTF is wrong with people. I would never think of stealing like that. I don’t think about stealing at all but that is brave. Right in front of me basically. I would never have thought an older couple like that would scoop a phone like that.

I am still mad and feel I shouldn’t have walked away but I should have still called the police. I did call the non emergency number again, and they said that I can still file a report but most likely, they won’t be charge because other then my word, there is no proof. And I keep location services off, so I can’t show where it was. Even though that would not make much of a difference because it doesn’t prove it was in the house. Even doing that only gets them possibly a procession charge, not actually stealing the phone. So this couple will get away with it and probably steal from someone else now.

This is one of those things that will I will remember randomly in 5 years and it will still piss me off.

Great story and congratulations for having the determination to get your phone back. That took guts. You even went back twice!

I've often been amazed how such a huge percentage of people out there are fucking thieves. This couple that robbed you are the perfect example.

I find there are 2 types of thieves. There are those that plan to steal and those that stumble on an opportunity to steal and proceed to steal. Both are assholes as far as it goes. I've often been the victim of opportunistic thieves (as were you.) One time, I parked my car at Pearson airport as I was going to be gone for 2 days on business, but I forgot to roll up the passenger window. When I got back, my vehicle had been turned upside down. What kind of fuckwad does that to someone? There a LOT of people who when presented with an opportunity to steal will steal. You need to keep things locked up or someone will steal it, I guarantee it. I used to work for a guy way back when when I was in university who was a multimillionaire. In the steel fabrication and erection business. He would steal anything that wasn't locked down on a jobsite. Blew my mind. He was the nicest guy you'd ever meet, would give you the shirt off his back, but if someone wasn't watching his tools, they ended up in the back of his truck.

As to those posters on this thread being "triggered" by the issue of race. Bullshit. Those thieves deserved everything they got and more. Thieves are not entitled to common courtesy. If they had of been white, and you called them white trash, sobeit, they earned it.

You've got the right outlook though. That's for sure. You kick yourself for the mistake you make, but you learn from it and you will take steps that it won't happen again. You don't have the victim mentality, that's for sure. Good on ya.

I wonder if that guy works for the CRA. Some guy with a similar accent is always calling me to let me know that I may be prosecuted for not paying my taxes

Glad you got you phone back. But I wouldn't waste my time with the Cops. Sure, you can file a report but in the grand scheme of things, not much is likely to happen to the couple. Cops don't have time to go the grocery store, access the surveillance footage etc. They have way bigger fish to fry. Now, had you not gotten it back, then definitely you should've call the Cops.

gee this sound's like a copy & paste from another thread Jenesis started......but you beat me to the same idea, so good on you

Glad you got your cell back, loosing it or having it stolen is a pain. would not want to be within earshot of you loosing it at their door..... Let's get ready to Rumble comes to mind :)

I've returned a few cells over the past couple of years, either to the owner or the store where I found it. Mine fell off the holster at a rest stop coming back from trip the USA on the 401, realized it about 20mins down the road & turned around. Thankfully someone found it in the parking lot by where we were parked & took it inside.

I know you say that as a joke but sometimes ones actions have consequences you have no idea of after the fact. The OP mentions it was a middle aged Indian couple. The husband probably felt humiliated and emasculated after especially being of South Asian culture. It may not have been a rumble between the husband and OP but the wife might have been a literal punching bag after.
I'm not blaming the OP whatsoever just want to make that crystal clear to her or anyone reading, but it's very possible that's what happened in that house when she left.

I have an Android phone. Maybe, I'll look into something similar. I have had my phone stolen twice but my phones cost about $150 so I didn't get too pisst.

It was in Langley, BC both times where a lot of drug users love living and often happen to be blonde females around gas stations. Race doesn't matter but poverty level (or drug addiction) is a good indicator of chance of theft. Never leave phone or keys on top of car while pumping gas. It can disappear when you go in to pay and forget it on car roof.
You can locate an android phone by signing into your Google account. You can also erase everything on your phone remotely.

So you call out a thief for using their ethnicity to lie to you and you are accused of being a racists by a member on here eh?

Not in any reality I know.

Good for you for verbally lambasting them after you got the phone back........They deserved it.

Now I know some people who are less scrupled than you that would go back in the wee hours of the morning to that address and relieve their tires of their air if you know what I mean.

Not that I'm advocating vandalism.....

Jenesis, I think you did very well.

People need to be called out for pulling shit like that. Common decency is gone, do the right thing is a memory.
As for playing the race card, she started it. Pretending to not understand shows malice and evasion.

You've got their address. I'm sure a subscription for Suukmy Diik to a dildo of the month club or similar will send a suitable message.

Not that I've ever done that.
