I think it was from the early sixties when Toronto was the top city in North America for bars and taverns featuring many rock and jazz musicians such as Ronnie Hawkins and Levon Helm and the Band at the Concord tavern, John Lee Hooker at the Colonial on South Yonge, Ian & Sylvia at the Friars and many others. Also, many dance clubs such as the Masyrk Hall, Club Trocadero, the best R & B club, Avenue Rd. club near Yorkville. If you could dance to Rock music, you were guaranteed to leave with a DDG girl. Another thing, all these venues were very safe and non violent. Those were the days man.
