What are the qualifications needed to become an appraiser?
See the Appraisal Insitute of Canada website. I don't have the link, but I'm sure that could find it. You need the equivalent of a degree in commerce or something similar, including the required courses for your various designations. Plus about 4 years of something like apprenticeship. I had the residential designation many years ago, and dropped it, and never completed the AACI.

Doing bank appraisals was not a way to get rich fast. Doing fee based appraisal could be lucrative, but it takes a lot to get there and be qualified and have a successful practice. Much like an professional accountant or lawyer.
